Fuel pump replacement
For the 2000 Grand Am, the fuel pump is replaced by draining the fuel tank or having it as empty as possible....then (while on jacks) lower the fuel tank. Remove the harness and the tubes to the top of the sending unit. Remove the lock collar ring that holds the pump in place (sending unit is mounted to the side of the fuel pump) and lift out the pump assembly...tilting it slightly (it has fuel in it so watch for it to spill out) and slowly so as not to damage the float internally. Installation is in reverse. Sounds easy but there is more to it because of the lack of space between the tank and the underside of the car...trying to disconnect these items.
Engine will turn over but wont start
All "crank, no start" conditions are approached in the same way. Every engine requires certain functions to be able to run. Some of these functions rely on specific components to work and some components are part of more than one function so it is important to see the whole picture to be able to conclude anything about what may have failed. Also, these functions can ONLY be tested during the failure. Any other time and they will simply test good because the problem isn't present at the moment. If you approach this in any other way, you are merely guessing and that only serves to replace unnecessary parts and wastes money.Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. That's what we have to look for. These are the basics that need to be tested and will give us the info required to isolate a cause.1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on.2) Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. If none found, check for power supply at one side of the injector with the key on.3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off.4) If all of these things check good, then you would need to do a complete compression test.Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out, you will know which system is having the problem.
2000 Pontiac grand am keep getting trouble code
If you have replaced the sensor then you will need to reset the cpu with a fault reader or the fault will continually reappear. If you have done that then if you have used an aftermarket unit to save money then some OEM computers will not correctly read the new unit and so will put up the fault code.

Why does my 2000 pontiac grand am leak coolant
coolant leaking could come from different areas, i would 1st start checking for leaks around the thermostat area, this is normally where the top radiator hose connects too, then i would look at the water pump area to see if any coolant is visable on the outside of it, also check your heater hoses for leaks too, some cars have even had antifreeze leaks coming from the freeze plugs, which are installed into the engines block, they are normally on the sides of the engines. don't forget to check out the radiator, a good way to find antifreze leaks is after you drive the car for a while, and then park it, and then put a large piece of cardboard under your car, make it large enough to go from the radiator to at least the windshield area, if it leaks then, you will be able to see what area the antifreeze has leaked.
Car is shaking when driving and makes clicking noise
CV joints will only click when the wheel is turned. Normally this is due to a torn boot and the grease gets EVERYWHERE in the front suspension. The clicking could also be that you need to bend back your dust shield that goes behind your brake rotor. You could have hit it when doing the strut and it is making contact with the brake rotor. As far as the shaking, this could be a number of different things. I would make sure the rest of your front end it tight. Check the ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rod ends, strut mounts, and wheels.
