1986 Mazda B-Series Questions & Answers
My 86 b 2000
I didn't know anybody even used carburetors after 1982. By that time, it was cheaper and easier to meet clean air standards with fuel injection, and if done right, fuel injection provides better performance anyway. You can tweak performance with different manifolds, improved exhaust piping and possibly a turbocharger. There may be a "high-performance" ROM chip for your engine computer; this permits a greater fuel delivery under acceleration conditions.
Note: some smaller engines used a single throttle body injector rather than one for each cylinder. Theoretically you could replace this with a carburetor, but modifying the engine controls to work correctly with it would be a nightmare.
1986 Mazda B2000 truck stalls after driving for 30 min
There could be a number of things causing your problem...I really need to know the mileage.?..Has it been serviced and tuned up regularly...?...Does it happen up a hill or down a hill..?...Does it happen Everytime you drive...Does it over heat..?.Did you check battery cables for tight connection...?.The list goes on and on......However apparently it dies when it reaches operating temperature...Please send more info if possible....Thank You..
After driving 20-30 minutes I shut the truck off and it will start but then dies and wont start again for 40- to a hour
I have a similar problem. My engine shuts down after about five minutes..
Measuring the current into the distributor(ignition) reveals a jump in current from 3 to 40 amps.
The power lead is red on white and the ignition lead is yellow on black and goes into a connector under the dash where the ignition wire changes to white on black. Three different wiring diagrams give no clue to how this problem is caused.
Also, the starter is good for only a few turns after the engine warms up.
