2004 GMC Yukon XL Reduced Eng power
it sounds like it could be your pcm power control module. only because there are so many different lights coming on at once. or and this may sound stupid but check under the drivers seat. there is a ontrol box there. push the connector and make sure its connected... Believe it or not.. when the seat moves it can tug on the cable. It did on mine and I lost the fuel pump and the fuel guage. I also lost traction control. I had the pump replaced and of course it worked when i drove it out of the dealer only to stop 2 days later... By chance i came accross a web page.. I cant find it now. and a guy had the same problem and it took 4 weeks for the dealer to find out it was under the seat. I check mine frequently and have not had a problem since... lucky for me the fuel pump was under warrenty.
Security light
Unfortunately this a pretty common problem on GM cars and trucks. Here is a simple breakdown of what is happening.
The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM. These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. There is where the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link should help you outhttp://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
Removing u-joints on the front driveshaft
Get some circlip pliers (or needle nose and a screwdriver), pop out the clips, all four. Now find a socket that fits the end diameter of the u joint. Beat the chap out of it with a hammer. You will see it start to move. Do this on 2 ends next to each other til it forces into the center, pushing the opposite sides cap out of the joint. If it still won't come out, force it back the other way a little and it will slip right out.
