Where is the fuel filter located on 1985 econoline
In all the gasoline engines that came in the E-350 for that year the fuel filter is located in the engine compartment and you will need to remove the cover to get to it. Look to the rear of the alternator and it should be right there in the fuel line. I hope this helps and good luck

85 FORD E150 dash gauges
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. First thing you should do is check all your fuses. It is possible that you have a loose ground, bad wire, or loose connection. The only bad thing is getting to the wires. It will require the dash being removed. You will need to get a voltage meter to test the wires. Check all your grounds (all black) and make sure they all are secured and grounded. It is also possible that the BCM is malfuntioning. The BCM controls all the lights and that part of the computer may be damaged. It is not common but it happens. You need to check the fuses and wires first.

you can never go wrong with what the factory used, motorcfaft avoid any of the so called high perforamce parts, most of this parts will hurt the fuel millage and perforamce unless you change the coils and other sensors in order for this parts to work properly. as for gas mileage when the van was new it was rated at 12 mpg city 16mpg highway

I have a 85 econoliner
If your van has a "multi function" switch on the steering column, that may very well be the problem.

Brake lights don't work
You'll need to check the brake light switch with a multimeter. Meters are fairly cheap ($5 to $10) and can be bought at any home improvement store, Radio Shack, auto parts stores etc. Move the driver seat all the way back, look near the top of the brake pedal with a flashlight.
There will be a switch attached near the brake pedal support, disconnect it. Then test between the leads on the switch itself with the multimeter set on ohms or continuity. While holding these in place, activate the switch either at the switch or with the brake pedal.
The switch should read very low or no resistance when it's activated (closed). In it's normal (rest) position, it should read extremely high or infinite resistance. Anything else and it's likely shot - replace it.
Good luck!

What thay do is scrape
not sure what you mean by cats whiskers ,unless you mean the wiper blades --??-- now as for a parts catalogue then for this you will have to find the location of the manufacturer of the motorhome body ,look on the coachwork and you should find a plate with their details on and go from their ,this is about the best advice i can give as their are so many coachbuilders all over the world .Still cant understand your cats whiskers though this is a new one on me because to me a cats whisker is what we called the wire that you tweeked on a radio as a kid which we made from a crystal and some wire for an aerial

You fill the gas tank
Sounds like a problem with the fuel pickup tube in the tank. Can you access that to see if the tube is broken off?

When go to start the
Assuming the vehicle starts fine once you find the "magic spot", we can rule out the starter, solenoid, relay and power. In the 1985 there are generally only 2 causes for this...
(1) The ignition switch (replace it)
(2) The wiring connections from the switch through the steering column.
The switch is the most likely, and also an easy and inexpensive repair. If the wiring connections are suspect than it may be a bit more complex as Ford ran the wiring in "loop" series and can be a real pain to trace. I suggest to replace the ignition switch and check all connections and wiring to make sure nothing is grounding out or modified by a previous owner.
