MY vw passat 1.8 turbo automatic its first gear is missing when i hit the break
get a transmission diagnostic test to see if its electrical or mechanical failure. AT's are controlled by solenoids that open and close valves to lead to new gears which, if not activated, wont let you downshift. but if, from a stop on the first time, it works fine, its probably electrical. the speed sensor or downshift sensor may not be working properly
My ac fan doesnt work.
find the live wire from the fan and run it directly to your battery. if it cuts on its a bad relay. go to a junk yard, by a relay come home drink a beer and put a new relay in. other wise just hard wire a toggle switch straight to the battery from fan motor. problem solved. wax on wax off gotta love vws hahaha newbies just dont know.
Unable to lock doors on a 2000 passat, but the alarm is activated. How can I disable the alarm?
easy and cheap repair ,look on the end of the door lever with the door handle and their is a rubber cover ,remove this and undo the allen headed screw ,now hold the door handle and pull it out to open the door position the slide it backwards and it will come out ,look on the back of the door lock and their is a contraption that opens the door lock inside the door .this kit for this is cheap from the auto factor about 2 euros is all i pay for this kit ,fiddly job to fit but easy to do then refit the door handle ,you can reset the alarm by looking for the flat slot on the door lock inside and turn it with screwdriver as this will lock and unlock the lock de-activating the alarm .Right time to go to work now this is the last answer for now as have a citreon picasso to repair and a citreon timing belt to change ,real cars but first iam off for my morning coffee as this is spain after all land of manana ,siesta and fiesta
Oil smell in my vw
Sounds like valve cover gaskets need to be changed - they're a common failure on the 30v engine. Fortunately, they're also relatively inexpensive ($25 per cylinder bank - you need two - from www.ecstuning.com). They're also easy to change. They'd easily explain your oil smell - oil leaks onto hot valve covers and burns. Also, the misfire could be (not a guarantee, but it's possible) a result of valve cover gaskets as well - there's the main gasket which seals around the edge of the valve cover, and a second gasket shaped like three rings. This trims and seals the openings around each of the spark plugs, where the plugs are inserted through the valve covers. If you're leaking there, you can drown the top end of the plug in oil. If that gets into the spark wire boot, it can cause a misfire.
