This is such an old thread but if you or come one else has stumbled back upon this thread: When you pull the fuse panel cover off of the drivers side and you see the fuse panel, if you look directly above that panel mount you will see a small-ish hole that goes to the internals of the dash. When you get a flashlight and look in there you will see a relay panel and the closest one to you will be the 384 relay. Most are numbered on a VW/ German Engineered autos but if not that is where it'll be.

find your fuse panel, take the cover off and look at the inside of it. it gives you the fuse location, size and what its for.

Some relays are under the dashboard, driver side. Others could be the engine compartment. Best to look at your owners manual to check location.

My info says it's under the carpet on the passenger side. I think you have to remove the right kick panel but instructions for European cars is sketchy.

That little plug keeps the fluid from splashing up and running out of the cylinder. Just pour the fluid on top of the rubber cover and the height of the plug indicates the level of the fluid.

Definitely a diagnostic test needed. Replacement is a good place to start. But some sensors or relays can be pricey. Be sure all is lubed well. Several Auto parts stores will perform free tests, personnel are often very helpful if you ask. They will treat you as well as they are treated.
