Where is the cruise control fuse

The power for the cruise control comes through fuse #14 in the fuse box. From there it goes to the Cruise Control Switch. However, the Cruise Control Module is above the Fuse/Relay box, behind the dash board. Good-Day!

The lock on the driver side completely came out when I was pulling my key out. How do I fix that?

You would have to open the door and remove the door panel. Behind the door panel there might be some plastic so remove it so you can see inside the door. Look where the lock is positioned and there is a clip that goes on the back side of the lock to keep it from doing what you are saying it did. Look in the bottom of the door for the clip. It may have come off or just broke due to wear and tear. Replace the lock and put the clip back on the back of it and you are now good to go. Hope that this helped and good luck.

How many quarts aftter changing oill filter

It calls for 4.5 (4 1/2 ) quarts with a filter change too. After you change it and add the oil start the car and let it run for about 2 mins. to let everything circulate and then shut it off and check the oil again to make sure that it is still full and that there are no leaks. Hope that this helps. Have a good day !

1997 jetta didnt have key so hot wired, ran fine for few days and just wont start now , why?

The 97 Jetta has a built in security system and if you hot wire anything it interferes with it and will shut the car down and will not start again. Un hook the battery and wait 5 mins and then hook it back up. The alarm might go off so use the key to turn it off and then try to start the car. That should fix it and if not I cannot fix it without seeing it. Sorry and hope that it works for you. It has happened to me when I switched out my stereo with an aftermarket one.

Timing belt marks

If you are replacing the Belt.... start with the Timing Marks CORRECTLY lined up, and once the Old Belt is OFF... DO NOT TURN THE ENGINE.... or you will have a nice long and slow job to line everything up again......

1997 vw cabrio hard to get into first gear

Sounds like the "Fingers" in the Gearbox are slightly out of line with that gear..... are all the other Gears working PERFECTLY or do you have a tiny problem with them as well???? If you do, then I suggest seeing a Gearbox Mechanic...... at he VERY WORST it could be a Gearbox Overhaul, but more than likely a bit easier...... maybe even one of the Linkages has slipped slightly.... but the Mechanic will be able to tell for sure. Good Luck......

1997 jetta will not start. the battery has been

all vw MUST be reset after battery dies/changed.put key in door,unlock/hold key over 30 secs(windows go down)then lock/hold key over 30 secs(windows go up/sunroof closes)then press unlock button on remote for 30 secs......RESET DONE......(try this for fun....sit in car after turning off engine/remove key, drivers door keypad is still live(until you open door)ALSO when engine is running lower any window and then raise up with fingers in top of door, the window will rollback.(if you do it once it hurts..twice it really hurts..three times it traps your hand in.)ALL THIS is NOT in the handbook.......

Volkswagon problems

Look in the fuse box for an ECM fuse. If it isn't in the box inside the car look under the hood in that fuse box. Once you locate the ECM fuse, replace it and everything should work as normal once again. Hope that this helps and good luck !

Brake booster from 1997 vw jetta removal instructions

Hi. Ther is a special tool for this, but it is clumsy and difficult. The plastic retainer is cheap enough to just break it out and fit a new one in place. fit it into the pedal first then clip the rod in otherwise the rod breaks through the clip before it seats into the pedal.
