i had the same code, p2187. check to the left of the throttle body(side facing the front of the veh.
there are 2 vaccum hoses going into the intake. the larger one on top has a spring clip holding it and if you look under that you'll see a smaller one with a check valve. mine was disconnected. plugs in under the larger one.

How do you get the bulb out? Do you have to take off the rubber boot first? Just pull off the 3-way electrical connection? Turn it/twist it? Thanks. Bob
The bulb is actually very easy and straight forward to replace.
If you are replacing one bulb, I suggest doing both at the same time and a twin pack is less than buying two packs seperately.
Caution DO NOT TOUCH THE NEW BULB WITH YOUR BARE HANDS. THE BODY OILS ON YOUR HANDS CAN CAUSE THE BULB TO GET HOT SPOTS AND BURN OUT QUICKLY.

I have a 2003 mazda6 and I need to change the headlight bulb. How do I go about getting at the bulb? Do I come in from the back or do I have to take the whole headlight assembly out of the car? I removed the coolant reservoir and got a good look at the back of the assembly but I sure couldn't figure out how to get at the light bulb.
Just went to my local store - they sell the bulbs and fit them while you wait...the guy does a lot of them - he had it done in 10 minutes and charged 12 pounds including the bulb. I watched him do it - twisted the cover off - popped the bulb out and popped the new one in ...he didn't actually unbolt anything from the car...worst of all it was dark and raining...I'd suggest this route unless you have small hands or are willing to spend an hour fiddling around

I HAVE A MAZDA 6 2003 WHEN I STAR THE CAR THE RPM GO UP AND DOWN SOMETIME STAY ON SOMETIME SHUT OFF BY SELF AND IF I DRIVE IS NOT A PROBLEM JUST I FILL THE PROBLEM EVERY TIME I STOP ANYWERE
I had the same problem and it turned out to be a big vaccuum leak, Do you hear a whistle or similiar noise coming from under the hood anywhere? If so, check all of your hoses. Mine was behind the intake manifold..

I have a Mazda 6 1.8 sportswagon (estate). The airbag warning ight came on. Took it in to a Mazda service agent, diagnostics showed fault as historic, so, it was cleared from the memory. A few days later it came back on. I took it back in, and the problem lies with the airbag passenger seat occupancy sensor. This part will cost me 750 Euro, and then another 250 or so to fit. I am based in Dublin (Ireland). Does this sound right. Are there any reasonable cheaper solutions.
Hey,
you can install an simulator (Airbagmodul) from www.airbagmodul.com
This is a perfect and cheap solution if you dont want to spend about 1000€ in the garage.

Can i turn of my passenger side airbag on my 2003 mazda 6. My misses is having our kid soon and we will need the baby to be sat in the front, but i cant find a switch or keyhole anywhere?????????????
The airbag system in this car is second generation smart airbags, there is no switch, if the weight in the passenger seat is not at least 50 pounds (there is a sensor in the seat cushion) the airbag is switched off to the paassenger seat, but small children should always be in a approved child seat in the back seat anyway.

my car will sometime not shift out of park on hot days. I don't know why this happens but in the meantime I've been told I should be able to find an override button to get it out of park. I can't find it. Anyone know where it is?
Unable to shift out of park on very hot days in my Mazda6 2003, was becoming a serious problem this summer.....there is no override button/key on this model. I had it to the Mazda dealership five times before the problem was corrected! Initially the wrong diagnosis was made and replacement of something connected to the brake did not correct the problem. Finally, the shifter was replace and the problem was solved. $$$ Seems like there have been many different electrical problems with this model....some under warranty, some not. I will not ever buy another Madza.......there is no excuse to design a car without an override button or key! ( It was scary to be stuck on sweltering hot days not being able to get out of park.....had I ever had my grand babies with me when this happened, I would have been desperate.)
