Car idles rough but seems to smooth out right above idle.

1st, need to get a compression test. No problem with taking it to redline. Low or short shifting actually do more harm to a rotary than letting it rev.

93 rx7 engine/turbo prob

Afraid you probably have engine issues. White smoke was water. clanking could have been apex seals. You need to have a compression test done.

1993 RX7 - cooling fan always comes on when engine is shut off.

I would want to know if the computer is grounding the fan relay to make it come on, or if the relay is faulty. On some models the computer turns the fan on to keep the radiator from overheating when the engine is stopped, but that should only happen with the engine at operating temp.

Oil pressure sending unit went

Unfortunately, yes. Your vehicle's CPU is responding to your change. The only thing you could try besides replacing the factory sending unit is to try to ground the old unit. Maybe, if you ground the old sensor or complete the circuit in some fashion. Right now the old unit isn't returning any info to the CPU and the car is designed to assume the worst. Its not that often but every once in a while we get ambushed by good engineering instead of bad. Sorry. Good Luck.

Mazda rx7 93 looses power @ 7k+

Look for restrictions in the intake air and exhaust systems. Check fuel pressure and delivery (fuel filter/pump). Check the ignition system as well. If the engine has a lot of miles, you may be experiencing combustion seal wear. These are amazing engines when they work correctly! Good luck!

Knock or tapping at idle

Firstly, check your engine oil level. If the level is low, the rocker arms in the cylinder heads can tap tap tap... This may be why you're getting an engine light. Check the oil pressure gauge for a reading. If the oil pressure and level is ok, you can run an oil cleaning agent thru your motor with the oil and then do an oil change. Sometimes you can quiet a noisy motor that way.
You could also use a high-mile oil in the motor and see how that works. You can also add an oil additive to help quiet older motors..
hope this helps you.

Is a 93 rx7 with 40,000 kilomters a reasonable car

how does the exhaust look? when you rev up do you see blue or black smoke? if black smoke it just might need some new spark plugs and injector service how ever blue smoke is a sign of worn comperssion seals, which means an engine tear down or replacement, the choise is yours, it a good rebuild platform if you are up to it.

I have a 91 rx7 that has been having some cooling

the coolant should flow from the radiator into the reervoir as it heats up. When it cools, the fluid flows back into radiator.
Check to be sure your cooling fan is coming on when the engine gets fully warmed up, and when you urn the a/c on.
