How do I get the front brake rotor off of a 2006 GMC Canyon 2 WD?

Tools Required: Lug Removal Tool Impact Gun(Recommended) Sockets.. Lots of metric sockets Ratchets Wrenches Porta Power(hydraulic piston) --- THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT... use to press hub off.. LOTS OF PATIENCE Instructions: 1) Jack vehicle and support on jack stands. 2) Remove front tire. 3) Remove Front Brake caliper.. hang on frame using a bungee or other support Important to not stress hose. 4) Remove brake pad support. 5) Remove 4 bolts from rear of hub. 6) Undo bolt for ABS sensorfrom frame, undo all clips holding wire. Crawl under truckand unclip wire connector(trace wire from the ABS sensorto find it) 7) Make sure wire is unclipped from the frame and will not bind on removal of hub. (Prevents Damage of ABS sensor) icon_cool.gif.pagespeed.ce.l5kzkvpb-u.gifTRICKY PART: Turn the wheels so that you can use the hydraulic porta-power against where the lower control arm mountsto the front. (Turn the wheel left). Position porta-power to be placed inside dimple of the middle of the hub. DO NOT DAMAGE ABS SENSOR... Pump Porta-power until hub "Pops".. be extremely careful removing the hub not to damage the ABS wireat all.. It is easy to break and not notice (I did this and had to resplice it) 9) Hub should be removed from vehicle by this point and you can remove the six bolts holding the old rotor on. Still be careful not to damage the sensor. 10) Change the rotor. (do not use impact gun to reattach.. may strip threads) 11) Installation is basically reverse of removal. 12) Install brake pads, press caliper back in (typical brake job) 13) Put tire back on.. do other side.. and you're done. Locked radio 2006 gmc canyon

Most modern cars have a security code enable for the installed radio/cd players. This is an anti-theft device. The initial documents given to the owner when the vehicle was purchased lists this code and how to reset it. If you are second owner/original owner who has lost this information, then, you can approach gmc canyon dealer and they will have this code on their server. Normally a free service (I believe). The security code is lost from the radio whenever keep alive voltage is removed from the radio. i.e. You disconnected or replace the battery. I hope this helps.

Our 2004 GMC canyon will not start from time to time.

sell the truck and get one that does not have the security system that locks out the engine starting. I wish I could but I can't for a year or so.

Why would the "Check Engine" light keep blinking?

If you're under warranty, you definitely should go to the dealer and have them look at it. If you don't have any warranty left, then you should go to AutoZone and get the code pulled to see what's going on with the truck. They'll either lend you the scanner or scan the truck for you -- either way, it's for free.

Cars p0017 engine code

This is a nice truck but when they get old they develop engine problems (misfire codes and performance issues). After 150K miles the head starts to wear out. Oil and coolant changes are very important. Code P0017 refers to a fault detected in the Crank or Cam positioning sensor. This could be true or there could be a fault inside the head. Without test equipment it is hard to advice you. This engine has VVT technology. Since this engine does not use an EGR valve, it is being taken care of through the Phase controller. There is a solenoid on the passenger side of the engine. It is directly above a coolant port, at the front of the engine. This solenoid is called a Phase controller valve (or solenoid). it is common for this part to fail too. I hope this helps but if you need more info please write back. Please be as specific and detailed as you can. The more information that you can communicate to me. The better I can help you. Good luck.

Check eng light

I would say the trouble codes did not say to replace anything. Codes only give the mechanic a guide as to what to check. If you go back and re-read the codes you may find the O2 sensors are out of range or not sending a signal to the computer. Could be a fuel or wiring issue.

DOOR LOCKS BLOWER DOME LIGHT GO OFF AND ON ENGINE STOPS ABRUPTLY

No it could not be haunted, you have a short to ground somewhere emanating from a terminal block where all of these systems come together, most likely near the firewall. This will involve tracing all of these wires. When a wire is shorting to ground it raises the potential difference of ground thus sending a lower voltage to various systems. The only other serious option would be your ecm computer, which is also very likely.
