2004 GMC Envoy 4.2 liter

Pump replacement is fairly involved, but the issue is rarely the pump, as it is pretty indestructable. If you have low pressure, usually some clearances are too loose, somewhere. There is also sending unit issues, so measure your pressure with an external "known good" gauge.

Power seat not working

My drivers side power seat stopped moving forward and back...back rest still worked. Took it to dealer and they charged me $60 to fix a "loose wire."
The seat worked for 2-3 days and quit again. Took it back to the dealer, and they now said it needed a new motor and track at a cost of $750+. Told them to forget it and called GM. GM will not cover it, and they have not covered a host of other problems like new radiator, new water pump, new instrument guage cluster, cracked exhaust manifold, and misaligned rear door/window air deflector (which they even have a bulletin out to all service department that it is poor design and the body shop should "shave the plastic down so it doesn't hit roof when door is open).

Back to the seat, I took a large, flat blade screwdriver and ran it along the seat guide rails and pryed on the seat mount slightly....guess what? It the power seat now moves forward and back.

Bottom line is GM manufactures junk and will not stand behind it. Now we know why the company is going bankrupt.

XUV. where is the separate amplifier?

Look on the SERVICE PARTS IDENTIFICATION Sticker in the glovebox for code UQA. This code = Bose Premium Sound System. The amplifier should be on the right behind the glovebox.

What is the number 11 fuse for in the interior fuse box on a 2004 GMC envoy?

If you hear a noise near the rear left tire and removing the fuse makes the noise stop, then check the SERVICE PARTS IDENTIFICATION Sticker in the glovebox for code "G67." G67 = Air Level Control suspension, a.k.a. Air Ride Suspension, or Smooth Ride (or Luxury Ride) Suspension. You hear the air compressor turning on/off that inflates the rear air bags; the vehicle does a check when it's started, and will add air when you add weight to the cargo area or add a full load of passengers.

Parasitic battery drain - likely source

Check the number 07 fuse under the rear passenger seat. It serves the Truck Body Controller 2 (TBC 2). The controller fails & is a known source of intermittent battery drain. The will not be blown, it is just serving a bad controller that is not turning things off as it should.

Instrument cluster erratic warning lights, gauges stop working.

This is a common problem with an easy fix. If you are experiencing weird behavior from the instrument cluster it quite possibly is caused by corrosion on the circuit board on the back on the instrument cluster. To fix this you need to remove the instrument cluster. Refer to YouTube for this there are lots of videos shopping this, This step is much easier than it sounds, there are 4 screws and one plug. Inspect the circuit board you should see about a dozen places that have a dusty/crusty appearance (see the attached image). Clean the corrosion using isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swabs. Reinstall the cluster and your good to go.

What is the gap for a 2004 GMC envoy 4.2 liters

Natalie, our 4.2 engine only likes 1 sparkplug. AC Delco 41-103. This Iridium plug comes pre-gapped, to near the specs Mike posted. Don't try and gap these particular plugs yourself, easy to ruin them.

I have a 04 envoy slt xl won’t start none of gages work only battery light comes on, has full battery tho & won’t shift out of park

Try stepping on the brake when trying to shift with the key on. Then try starting im neutral or other gears to see if the neutral safety switch is bad in park. You may have a bad wire from the battery to power distrubution or bad ground. So many things it could be.

2004 GMC Envoy XUV SLT

There is a technical service bulletin regarding this problem with 2004 GMC envoy. Actually there are 3 separate issues with regards to the elecronic tailgate. The reason why the dealers are backordered is the part you want keeps failing after a time of being installed.

For the particular problem you have of the electronic latch not working, the bulletin recommends a inspection of the endgate connector C900. Look for the wires to be backed out of the connector or not properly crimped. To crimp you will need a crimping tool available at any electrical supply shop. The connectors can be had from the dealers.

The other solution referred to intermittent operation of the endgate but can apply in your situation also. For that, look for chaffing at the wire harness connectors for the endgate actuators located at the upper right and lower left latches. They have been found to be pinched up to 8 inches away from the actuators. In this situation it would be ideal to replace the connectors and install in a way so wires will not be pinched.

The other thing to look out for is dusty sensors. For this you will need to remove the tailgate trim panel and locate the 2 optical sensors on either side. You can feel them with your hand, they will be the size of a nickel. Clean all the dust under the trim. In addition to that you should open the switch and use contact cleaner to clean out any dust or debris inside there. There is no mechanical way to open the door once the electronic side has malfunctioned without damaging the door. I hope this helps.

2004 envoy fuse box diagram

Below are some diagrams for you. If you have the XL model there it will be different for the rear passenger compartment fuse panel which I did not include. I did include if you had a 6 or 8 cylinder engine for the under the hood fuse panel because there is a difference. This should be in your owners manual if you have one. If you do not and would like a copy, you can email me at [email protected] with your make, model and year and I will be happy to email you a copy. I hope this helps and good luck.

2004 gmc envoy window won't go up rear wiper obstruction

I know this question is old, but I am responding so others with the same problem can see. I wired the Rear Window Motor Park Signal wire and the Rear Window Motor Speed Signal wire together and it completely bypassed the rear wiper motor. Now the window goes up and down. This doesn't fix the rear wiper motor, but you will be able to have access to it now that the window is out of the way I made and album to show. http://imgur.com/a/q3vww

2004 GMC ENVOY RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF BUT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP? ALSO WHAT CAUSES HEAT TO STAY ON ON ONE SIDE EVEN THO THE A/C IS ON AND BLOWS COLD FROM THE OTHER SIDE

Temperature blend door actuator is probably stuck on heat position , needs replacing more then likely. Videos on youtube showing how to replace it . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wPg6uJCNcs Now as far as it shutting down , that could be any number of thing's , could cost a lot of time an money tracking that down . It would be best if when it shut off it wouldn't restart ,easier to fix that way .
