Replace neutral switch
There are small mounting screws on the edge of the plastic switch housing mounting it to the transmission. Remove the nut on the shaft in the center of the switch and pull off.

Why is fire shooting through exhaust when I'm trying to start
Too much fuel going into engine which is then not burnt. This is due to one of the following, injectors inncorectly set or faulty, carboretor incorrecetly set or that the engine manigment chip is faulty. Timing may also be out, but this is less likely idf engine runs reasonable well otherwise. Hope this helps

Why wont car start
I'm assuming you know what you're done. I would pull compression check on the side that you had to head work on and make sure thats up to spec depending on the vehicle if it's got overhead cam you might want to check the timing and also pray its a non interference engine. what I mean by interference is that there is ZERO tolerance between the piston and the valves when the piston is top dead center and if the timing is off the valve might be open at the wrong time and collide with the piston and then you have a bent valves.first thing I would do is a compression check and just cross your fingers and take it from there.

What to do next
Sounds like you have it right... clogged fuel injector. Please retrace all your plug wires and ensure they are in the proper place on the distributor... mixing up the firing order will certainly cause a misfire. A Bosch service center has the machine to clean the injectors and test the spray patterns. Bosh and DENSO make excellent replacements for most cars... change them all to prevent a recurrence and standardize the spray pattern. Check you PCV valve and Oxygen sensors while you are at it; although unrelated to your problem they will make your car run better if they function correctly.
