It won't die when pulling the relay because it has another power path to the fuel pump through the oil pressure switch . Fuel Pump Electrical Circuits Description and Operation watch this video on fuel pump control , shows chrysler first , ford ,then gm . wait for gm an he explains the oil pressure switch . Plus when it won't start ,don't guess or theorize ! Test what's missing ? check for spark , no spark check ignition system , coil's , ignition module , crank sensor etc... has spark ,do a fuel pressure test etc... don't think computer , when it won't start does the check engine light come on with the key on run not start . If light is lit ,nothing wrong with the cumputer . If want to fix cars you really should take some automotive classes . Test don't guess .Watch some other videos crank no start videos etc...
Best to go to a repair shop Did you test the fuel pump in any way ,or just guess & replace it.I would stop that diagnostic approachimmediately & get helpCould be ignition issues when it get hot.
not hardly for fuel injection..see the fuel pressure is mainained in a canister that houses the fuel pump in the tank..if money is an issue and it usually is.. you can get a fuel tank from a towyard for much less than a new pump.. I paid 35 bucks for mine and it runs fine..
Gm vehicles are known for failing antitheft systems. One of the symptoms of this failed system is that the vehicle will start for 1-5 seconds and then cut the power to the fuel injectors and stall. This is the antitheft prevention. It's purpose is to keep people from "hotwiring" the vehicle" Normally this will be followed by a light on the dash or gauges that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. if you see this light, it is pretty much a dead give away of the problems. Check your blower motor resistor connection.Turn switch and fan on then wiggle the resistor pigtail fan should turn on if not replace resistor.These get to hot and usally melt the pigtail and loose their connection.
The two circuits meet is the brake light switch. Possibly a bad ground is causing a feedback through the switch and making the cruise not work.Check all the ground wire connections, any of the ground connection is loose or not connected. Also try bypassing the brake light switch wiring and see.Dont replace brake light switch, just remove brake light switch out and by pass its wire, by connecting them directly to each other without connecting switch.Now check, do you get both headlight and cruise control working together.If it works, then replace brake light switch. -------But if still the problem is same then check all the grounds in the dash. Also check the wiring's to the headlight bulb sockets and wiring on the cruise control.Any of the wire is not wired properly.Its come out loose and , that is causing the problem.-------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
Bad relay. Bad fuel pump. You can go to the fuse/relay panel under the hood and swap relays with another one like the A/C relay and try it.
Then the pump may have gone. One common cause is driving with 1/4 or less tank of fuel. Fuel in the tank is very important now days as it keeps the pump thatis inside the tank cool.
Also if you turn the key and don't hear the pump, wait a few seconds before turning it again. If you turn the key off and on too fast the system does not respond that fast.
Older vans required you to cut the front core support and slide it out from the front end. the cross member and front end of that van should unbolt though and allow you to slide it out through the the center if the front end it disassembled. hope this helps!
