Brake light wiring diagram
Hello, old problem, but I can help you here. Check out the recall on this vehicle. Brake lights run through the hazard light, and multifunction switch (turn signal switch). The recall actually shows you how to diagnose the problem AND which switch to replace. However if you're like me, and follow the instructions, I ended replacing both parts. My problem was a melted female connector that plugs into the brake light switch on top of the pedal. Follow the instructions on the recall page, and check the connector. One of these will be your problem. Seems to be a common problem.
My 1996 gmc jimmy is misfireing
- Look for a vacuum leak.
- Check the spark cables to ensure that a spark is not jumping across from one cable to the other.
- Check the spark plugs to ensure the plugs do not have a bunch of deposits on them.
- Check and clean/replace the distributor cap. A spark may be jumping from one terminal to the other if there is lots of dirt inside.
Transmission stuck in 4w lo
Did you try putting it into nuetral on flat ground, wait till it ceases to move and then try? There could be pressure on your gears causing it to be difficult to shift.
Key dinger
This is what just ran through my mind. You are tricked into thinking that the brakes lights didn't have a fuse, because they wasn't working. That fuse your replaced was for your chime, which is probably bad, so someone removed the fuse for it. The reason that your brakes lights dont' work could be 1 of 2 things. You do have a bad fuse, you just have to find it. If your brakes used to work, the fuse is not just going to fall out. Check all your fuses, but don't get them mixed up. The second most common this to cause this, is the small switch that sits behind your dash, up on the top of your brake pedal lever. You can see it from looking up from the floorboard area. Hope this helps!
Hazard switch
they don't when your hazard flashers are on, its normal
How to flush 1997 gmc jimmy heater core
There is an inlet and an outlet opening seen from your engine area. You can connect an old garden hose and allow water to enter it and watch it flush itself gathering that you want to see if it's clogged but if you want to just flush it so you can remove it then place the garden hose to the inlet entrance and connect the other end to an air tank to blow out the water from the core. I hope you want to do this to remove it and avoid extra water drop on your passenger foot side area. Let me know, GE
Crank sensor
Clicking when trying to start is usually the sound of the starter solenoid. The problem based on the fact that eventually it will start will either be a loose or dirty connection at the battery (most likely if it is a connection issue), ground on the block, or power wire at starter, or the starter itself is on the way out.
Just rebuilt 4.3 engine and now it has no vaccum
Low vacuum causes: cam timing, ignition timing, intake manifold blockage checked hoses, restricted exhaust can also cause low vacuum. Did you check your MAP sensor? Does the vacuum drop off as rpm increase? What are your compression readings?
My computer doesnt have any power went to DEQ and
With all due respect to the fine folks at DEQ, most of them are not automotive technicians (they would be working for dealerships or have their own business if they were). They simply may not have been able to properly plug in their scanner to the port located under your dash. (BTW, if your computer were not powered, your Jimmy would be running like c**p, if at all) So I highly doubt that the computer isn't working. Who looked at the problem after DEQ? If the person was a mechanic or automotive technician, he or she should have been able to diagnose and fix the problem. Try taking the Jimmy to a larger auto parts store and ask them to read your computer for error codes. If they find any, they can tell you what the code(s) are and interpret them for you. If they can't get their code scanner to connect properly, you may have to take the vehicle to a qualified auto electrical/electronic technician who should be able to trace the port's wiring and determine why scanners can't connect properly. Good luck.
The computer on my jimmy isnt giving out any power
How did you determine that it's the computer (ECM?). Do you have lights, horn, radio, etc? Do the dashboard warning lights when ou turn the ignition key to "On" (not to "Start")? Need more info, please.
