1996 Jimmy won't shift out of 2nd
Had the same problem with it not shifting passed second and slipping in and out. one of the PCM modules (there are 2) isn't grounding properly. gmc dealer jumped a wire from the properly grounded PCM module to the un-grounded one. problem solved. this after i spent money on a re-manufactured tranny at there suggestion. But i got my money back because there exists a technical service bulletin on this issue and i complained to them that they should have known about it beforehand, so i got a re-manned tranny with warranty for free, not bad, thanks GM. Jimmy's still running....
WILL CHANGING THE PCV VALVE HELP SOME WITH MY OIL PRESSURE
PCV valve isn't likely to change your oil pressure at all. All it does is vent the crankcase to your intake.
I don't know your engine, but some have both a "sending switch" and a "sensor" for oil. One for the light, one for that gauge.
You could also have a bad wire from sensing switch to gauge.

If factory alarm, lock drivers door with key, wait an hour should automatically reset, if it's a factory alarm and you have no keypad. Try removing the fuse for the alarm and wait a few minutes and replace fuse and see if it will reset the alarm. If its an aftermarket alarm system, look under plastic panel below steering wheel for a plastic black box that is about the size of a deck of cards, izip tied or just hanging with a plugin with several different colored wires and unplug it. That will shutdown an aftermarket alarm and vehicle should crank

4.3 vortec engine , engine noise, knocking or
The knocking or ticking is going to determine if it is in the top end, lifters, push-rod or rocker arm issue or the bottom end that would include pistons or bearings.
If it is a ticking noise, it will more than likely be a valve train issue.
If a knocking noise, piston or crankshaft related problem.
Attached is a web site that you can listen to a piston slap which is a known issue for your 4.3.
Listen to the noise and see if it sounds similar to your problem. A piston slap will generally sound as though it is coming from the central area of the engine.
Listen to the recording and let me know.

1996gmc jimmy sometimes the heat works and then it dont
Check coolant level first. It may be a clogged heater core. Feel the two hoses coming out of the firewall, both should be hot when up to engine temperature. If one hose is cold, your core is clogged. Unhook both hoses from engine, hook a garden hose in one hose and blow out the clog, pretty messy and gunky.
Can lifters be replaced
Oh yea, lifters can be replaced , best if you replace cam an lifters together ! Loud knocking is not usually associated with lifters , they usually make a ticking noise ! Knocking noise is most usually in the bottom of the motor , main or rod bearings . most of the time rod bearings !
