How to replace ignition coil on 1991 GMC Suburban

check out AA1car.com It helped me out a lot and it's free.. An awesome site if you are willing to search a bit. The coil is on top of the distributor cap. remove the top cover then the 4 small bolts holding it on. Unplug it fro the side, 3 wires... then just replace. Make sure to reinstall the ground wire that is located under one corner of the coil and held in place by the mounting bolt.

Remove dash

If yours is like my 97 and 96 pick-ups then you need to set the parking brake first. Second tilt the steering wheel down as low as it will go. Third WITH THE ENGINE OFF take the gear selector and put it down into low gear. You can now gently pull on the dash bezel from the outside edges and it should pop out with a little GENTLE coaxing. There are about 10-12 separate clips around the outside edge holding the bezel in place. The headlight switch will come with it but it should pop out of the bezel from behind with a little of that gentle coaxing discussed earlier. If you have any switches in the dash between the radio and the instrument cluster they may have to be manually disconnected before the bezel will come completely away from the dash. Beware the hazard flasher popup switch in the top of the steering column as the bezel will catch on that and you can break it off pretty easily which will help encourage you to purchase and install a new multi-function switch along with whatever else you are doing today. After you get the bezel out the rest of the dash components are individually secured with screws or clips. Enjoy!

I have a 91 gmc

The later cables are self adjusting, one way. Early ones have a horse clip. Yours should be self adjusters.

Go to the TB and locate the TV cable. Follow it to a bracket and yoiu will see a big plastic part snapped into the bracket that holds it in place. There should be a rasied plastic area with a metal D shaped button. Press on that button and push the cable back towards the cable housing. Then release the button and step on the throttle. It will make a ratchet noise and pull itself out as far as needed for a maximum tightness on the cable.

Codes for 91 GMC suburban. what does the code 12

If you mean the flash once and then twice flash code, That means the computer is good as far as being able to read codes. That's it. If you had any stored troub;e codes you would get the code 12 three times and then any stored codes would come after that. they also show up 3 times and then go to the next code if there are more then 1 codes stored. I hope this helps and good luck.

I wonder if my suburban 91 has any fuel filter

according to advance website your fuel pump is electric and inside the tank. the only pre-filter is thus the screen around the pump inlet. years of detritus can collect around them, but you are going to have to lower the tank and pull it out to see. it is 20 years old and a replacement would be in order anyhow if it has never been changed before.
