Latch cable for hood broke at latch on 04 tribute how do i get the hood opened?
OK, if the cable is the part that broke AND it broke at the handle, then you can use a pliers or vise grip to grab the end and pull on it to pop the hood, if it broke somewhere inside the cable, then you will need some needle nosed pliers to reach under the hood and grab it there. if it broke off at the hood latch itself, then you will need to get/ make a hook or pushing rod to engage the mechanism directly to release the latch and then replace the cable

Hi my 2004 mazda keep shutting down when driving and when you start it up back the RPM goes up and down
Several things it can be
Alternator not pushing juice
Battery not holding charge
Air filter clogged
Improperly warmed engine
Air fuel mix is bad
Fuel injectors are going bad
Bad pcm computer
Ac compressor bearings drawing down on engine ( bypass belt needed or bypass pulley installed if cant afford a fix)
Oxygen sensors
Catylitic converter needs serviced
Possible linkage to throttle has seen its time
Most of the items can be checked diy
Alternator start engine warm this will eliminate two possibilities above
Detach positive side battery cable if engine dies its alternator
Open air filter pull out air filter start car if runs good then you know it was air
Yes throttle position sensor could run a muck but at idle rpm's would stay constant
All other items need to be computer tested at local mechanic shop or auto parts store
I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute, it tries to start but will not. How do I go about diagnostics on it?
With key on, check that all warning lights and the check engine light are illuminated. Also that the fuel pump turns on for 2 seconds. You should hear a buzz or hum from the gas tank for that 2 seconds with key turned to on. If the pump is working, that means gas should be to the engine. It may be necessary to check the fuel pressure. Some parts stores loan or rent fuel pressure gauges. If fuel pressure is correct, or if you are sure the pump is putting gas up to the injector's fuel rail, then check for spark on a spark plug wire while a helper cranks the engine over.
Gas and spark, that is what you test for first. You will also need to check for trouble codes with a scan tool. Parts stores will do a scan for free. But if it won't start, that may be a problem getting to a store. So it is gas and spark. If you have both, next would be to check the injector circuit. Answer back if you need help with the circuit. All you need is a voltmeter or a test light.
2004 mazda tribute error code p 0 136
Code 136 is for a problem with the O2 sensor bank one sensor two.
That is the sensor after the catalytic converter.
The sensor or the wiring would need to be checked.
