Transmission filter

That car was available with 2 different transmissions.1 is the CD4E.That trans, the filter is only accessable if rebuilding the trans. You literally have to tear down the trans to get to the filter,so just drain and refill that one on a service. The other trans it could have is the GF4AEL,and that one has two pans. The filter is located in the bottom pan.Good luck.

Battery light on

hi this will be your alternator, is it the battery light? if it is this is the sign that the alternator is now not charging your battery, you can test it by, sourcing a volt meter , and connecting the terminals to the battery, start the car up and let it idle, it should read between 12.5 and 13 volts, then rev engine to about 1500 2000 rpm, and it should be 14 to 14.5 volts if it is not reading this then your alternator needs to be replaced hope this helps please vote..

Dashboard backlights on speedometer and tach are

You may have the dash light intensity turned down too low. There should be a dial on the dash to adjust it. Yes it could be a fuse too.

My 1999 mazda 626 started overheating. we have changed thermostat, flushed radiator, and it will only drive about 20 miles before it pegs the temp guage. Now it will not start.

Did you bleed the air from the cooling system as required in any cooling system drain out or service?? If not the engine will overheat.

Driver window works, but the others do not

i'm at fault for this at least twice: are there child locks on the car? Otherwise it would seem like an electrical shortage.

How to replace an alternator

OK, This worked well for me. Easier than some solutions I read on the internet. This method does not require getting under the car.1. Loosen the 17mm bolt on the belt tensioner pulley.2. Turn the tension screw (10mm) conuter clockwise to losen the belt.3. Remove the Serpentine belt.4. Drain and remove the radiator. Catch the coolant, filter and reuse.5. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery.6. Remove the battery cable from the alternator and uclip the control connector.7. Remove the top alternator support bolt.8. Losen the bottom alternator support bolt. It will not come out. The supportbracket is a slot, not hole. The alternator bolt and all will slide out of the slotdirectly toward the front of the car.9. Lift the alternator out between the engine and AC condensor.10. Reverse the procedure to install the new alternator.Good Luck
