1991 Mazda MPV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
91 mazda mpv cuts off while driving and will not restart until it has rested awhile
It sounds like there could be something in the fuel tank blocking the pickup . When the engine is stopped and the pump stops sucking it could drift away from the pickup and the engine starts but when the pump starts sucking again it picks up the blockage again. Failing that it could be the computer control box. Around that era some boxes would fail at certain temperatures and then after cooling come good again. Hope this might help. col

I have no heat. Thermostat, water pump and rad all
please clarify. if its heat as interior air temperature, it shouldnt have anything to do with the actual engine componets and more something to do with your switches inside? If its heat as in the temperature of the engine, does the engine run because if it does, it has to create heat.

Replace crankseal on 1997 mpv
front crank seal or rear.Front involves cambelt removal so you might think of changing that toorear involves gearbox and flywheel removal so if it's a manual you may consider a clutch replacement. Neither job should be attempted by a novice and you really need a manual if your doing it yourself to ensure you don't mess up the timing etc etc

My car over heated and
You blew a head gasket at the least. When it leks out the head or block there is a possiblity that the head or block is cracked. check prices, it may be cheaper for you to replace the engine, with a used one, than have a head gasket replaced.

Where is the starter solenoid located on a 1991
-
Remove the starter from the truck.
-
Disconnect the field strap from the solenoid terminal.
-
Remove the two solenoid attaching screws.
-
Disengage the solenoid plunger from the shift fork and remove the solenoid.
-
Install the solenoid on the drive end housing, making sure that the solenoid plunger hook is engaged with the shift fork.
-
Apply 12v to the solenoid S terminal and measure the clearance between the starter drive and the stop-ring retainer. It should be 2.0-5.0mm (0.0787-0.1969 in.). If not, remove the solenoid and adjust the clearance by inserting an adjusting shim between the solenoid body and drive end housing.
-
Check the solenoid for proper operation and install the starter.
-
Check the operation of the starter.
It is number 1, bottom right hand corner of this picture....

My 1991 has a back heater that suddenly quit
It uses the same fuse as the front heater blower. There is a ballist resister to allow for the different speeds of the motor that can fail and the blower motor is well known to fail too. Sometimes thers a fuse right in the wire thatr's connected to the blower motor it'self.
