check ICS for correct operation
engine idle speed is 850 -950 rpms for auto and 750-850 for manual
at 1200 rpms you are not on the idle circuits but on power circuits

You did not say which engine you have in your truck,, But GM cars and trucks usually places the oil pressure switch on the drivers side of the engine near the front.. This car uses a very expensive switch.. make sure this is your problem before replacing .. you find switch.. (go to oriellys web site and look it up to see a picture of what you are looking for). TAKE The wires off of it, take a wrench or socket of the correct size and remove it. Be very careful.. Do not over tighten, you do not want to damage the threads in the block. Damage to these threads can really complcate your life.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. CODE READS PURGE SOLENOID. MAKE SURE FUEL CAP IS TIGHT. UNDER HOOD ON TOP OF ENGINE YOU WILL SEE A GREEN PLASTIC HOSE WITH A SCREW ON CAP AND VALVE. THIS IS WHERE SMOKE IS PUMPED INTO FUEL TANK AND LINES TO FIND WHERE FUEL VAPORS CAN LEAK INTO ATMOSPHERE. THIS IS FOR EMISSIONS ONLY.IF IGNORED WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON ENGINE PERFORMANCE, BUT IF YOU HAVE TO PASS EMISSION TEST LEAK HASE TO BE FOUND FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO GO OUT.
