What happens when the catalytic converter goes out
YOUR ENGINE STRESSES ALOT AND OVERHEATS BURNS FUEL LIKE CRAZY, DOESNT HAVE POWER, BACK FIRES IF REALLY BAD. DOESNT ACCELRATE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON,.. WONT PASS SMOG BUT MOST MAJORLY WILL CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGED IF KEEPED ON RUNNING.
Hi,I Have removed Nissan sentra 1997 model 1.6i GSI thermostat, and dont know where the direction of the pin on thermostat must face and where to find bleeder screw
If the thermostat flange is horizontal it hardly matters which way the jiggle pin is placed as long as you put it in the right way up - with the wax capsule and return spring in the engine or hot side.
If the flange is mounted vertically the jiggle pin should be at the top as its function is to allow air or gas to escape.
Only a few "difficult" cooling systems are fitted with bleeder screws and the majority must be bled by running the engine and momentarily disconnecting a heater hose or similar. The majority of modern cooling systems are self-bleeding.
These days lots of workshops use a vacuum device and remove the majority of the air from the cooling system before allowing coolant to flow back in. This mostly eliminates the problem of air locks.
The car smoke after the mechanic worked (retard) on the timing. Is there any specifications for the timing. The car also smoke now heavily.
comment on the type of engine ( petrol or diesel)
ignition timing for petrol engines is always advanced and most are set between 10 and 12 degrees advanced
with EFI engines the spark timing is controlled by the ECM but it requires an initial advanced setting to start with
really for a mechanic to retard ignition setting I would recommend that you find an accredited mechanic and give this one a miss
if it is a diesel the injector timing is always advanced between 17 and 25 degrees and it is a diesel then the smoking will be unburnt fuel as the combustion process is not complete
again find an accredited diesel specialist shop and have it reset properly
Where is the Oil fill plug for transmission
I take it you don't have an owners manual / handbook although some companies may consider changing the oil beyond the regular owner.
My advice is go online and see if you can get a free download of the manual. Have you no Nissan dealers nearby?
