My 95 nissan pathfinder wont shift passed 2nd gear and i was told i need a new shift solenoid. He quoted the labor for $1500 at least and said he needed to pull the transmission to do it. Does this se
Sorry I don't know much about dollars or auto transmissions but having contracted a number of transmission repairs to specialists here in the UK I am qualified to tell you it is difficult to get a good auto transmission repair for less than about £1200 Sterling when the transmission must be removed.
That would make your quotation seem about right, though the "at least" part represents hidden dangers.
Once the transmission is out and stripped there is likely to be other things needing attention that would be foolish to ignore but new brake bands, clutch packs and oil seals aren't cheap and the cost would be in addition. If there is swarf or residue found when the oil pan is removed the dismantling would typically be complete and the cleaning and examination thorough.
The final cost is likely to be more than your old car is worth and you need to consider very carefully whether to spend.
You could of course ask local car breakers if they could supply enough cheap gear to convert to a sensible manual transmission.
When I check the oil it smells of gas motor run
your oil may be breaking down, try a really good oil change with a fram oil filter, recommend that you use castrol 30 weight oil in winter and 40 weight in summer, also add lucas oil treatment in with the oil change,it gives great top of motor lubrication, not like regular oil.fram filters are great too, they won't fold under pressure like a cheap one would.when you refine oil,it turns into gas.if you've been using a quick oil change place, stop. find a mechanic that can change your oil. you go to parts store, purchase an oil change kit with 30 weight castrol oil, tell them you want to add lucas oil treatment in on the oil change and have them look up your engine to see how many quarts of oil it takes, make sure they know that you want to add the lucas in on the oil change so you don't overfill the oil.after you've purchased the oil change kit, then go to your mechanic with your supplies and have them change your oil.after you've done this once, you'll do it all the time.quick oil change places buy their oil in bulk and as cheap as possible, then charge you for quality products.they break down quicklyand add very little lubrication to your engine.thank you for choosing fixya.com

How do I remove the dashboard on a 1995 nissan
There should be "plugs" that cover the dash screws. First, remove the steering column covers. Locate the dash screws as described above. Be careful pulling then down as sometimes airvenys and other components are attached to the back side (usually on driver side).
