Tranmission help
If adjusting the kickdown helped, likely you have an internal pressure loss (either a plugged filter or an internal seal leak..the first adjustment covered the problem by increasing line pressure. Likely the loss has become greater and will not respond as it did before. There are several other reasons this can happen but all are internal...as such all require teardown to correct. I wold examine the filter and if that is not the problem then you need to decide to replace the unit yourself or have it professionally done.
Please don't rate my answer poorly...I can't see, hear or drive your vehicle so I can only suggest simple answers to sometimes complex questions...A good honest trans shop obviously can do this better.
Thermostat needs replaced, but, I can't find it
The thermostat will be located in a removable housing at the engine end of the lower radiator hose coming from the radiator. It will have two bolts holding it on. It takes a lot of patience to get it on and off, smaller hands make it easier, generally a socket is the best way to go at it.
Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator
Remove this housing (radiator fluid can drain from this point if you already didn't do it)
Make note how thermostat is installed
Clean both surfaces
Install new thermostat and gasket
Re-fill coolant slowly to prevent an air lock
Start engine and look for leaks
Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on
Re-check coolant level
Simple as that though it is a pain to get on and off. Let me know how this turns out.
