2002 Chevrolet Malibu - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu. As soon as I bought the car, I noticed that the turn signals would stop working here and there. I removed the dash panel and inspected the switch. It seemed fine, however the panel where it mounts was damaged. To be safe. I replaced the switch as well. I noticed also, the battery would be dead or very low in the morning. The odometer and display on the radio wouldnt turn off. I believe that's why it was draining. I unhooked battery and put test light between cable and post and pulled fuses until light went out. Honestly, I cant remember which. I let the car sit. I put the fuses back but decided to leave ground on battery unhooked so no drain would happen. I knew the ignition cylinder was the problem for odometer and radio displaybstaying on, so I went ahead and removed it, installed new ignition switch, cylinder and also, went ahead and got a new battery. After all this, I tried to start the car. It will start and run for 3 seconds. I posted a picture of the results my friends scanner got. I've tried to do the ignition relearn many, many times with no luck. I need some help figuring out what's wrong. I'm not the best at this kind of thing, but I can follow instructions well, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's your problem .
2002 chevy malibu high idleing 3500 rpm when parked
Might need a new IAC, idle air control. If it is stuck open it can cause a high idle condition. Or you could have a vacuum leak. Is there a suction/whistle kind of Sound from the engine compartment that sounds new?
2002 Malibu rear speakers , Sunroof and Passenger window dont work
It certainly is, and could be caused by a lot of things that are not necessarily related (such as blown fuses, faulty switches, connector problems). However, with speakers cutting out, you could have a serious wiring harness problem inside the car that is affecting all these systems. I suggest you get all of these checked out by a shop to avoid possible serious trouble.
Can a faulty theft system drain your battery?
I agree with Andrew about the battery and connections. If the battery is down, we're just spinning our wheels. You need to get it charged up.
My info says you have passlock security system, the majority of these systems are fuel injector disable, only. I looked at your starter wiring circuit, if my wiring diagram is correct, your security system has no control over starter motor circuit.
With passlock, it is the key cylinder that is matched to the security system, not the key. The key is just a mechanical key.
2002 Chevy Malibu Cassette Player will not work
Since no repair parts or repair manuals are made available to the consumer by GM then you must remove the deck from the dash and send it in for repair at a factory approved repair center.
Electrical problems chevy
Take the driver side kick panel out an check to see if there are any loose ground connections . Normaly car makers hide connections behind this place . Looking at a wiring diagram mite show that all these thing's work intermittently share a common ground point .
Check out this ground connection
SP202
On the left side of the instrument panel, near the junction block
To find or see this ground you may need to pull out the left fuse block .From the picture ,that's what it looks like .
2002 CHEVY MALIBU TURNOVER....BUT SOMETIMES WONT START
I just have one suggestion, after what all your mechanic already did. I would want to know the fuel pressure reading WHEN IT WON'T START. So you would need a fuel pressure gauge handy, for that time it won't start. Hook up the gauge and turn the key on- if at 59 psi, when the engine won't start, then you know the fuel pump and the relay sensor is not the problem. And so probably not a fuel problem, although you haven't checked the injector circuit, but likely that wouldn't exhibit a problem as you have.
So if not a fuel problem, check for spark when it won't start. Maybe the problem is in the ignition system. Buy a spark tester from a parts store, use it when the **** engine won't start- simple and easy check of your ignition system.
