Service engine soon light
Take a trip to AutoZone or one of the automotive parts stores in your area. Most have a "code reader" that they will lend you to see what trouble codes have been set in your computer. The codes correspond to a component that MAY have failed. These code readers are NO 100% correct all the time but will give you an idea of what is going on. Reset the code with the code reader and see if the service engine light comes back on. Sometimes it will set a code due to a momentary fault and not return....sometimes...
Good Luck.
Why is the "brake" icon illumiated in my 96 Camaro?
is it the "red" brake warning light? if so, its possible the master cylinder may have an internal leak causing the pedal to be soft. if this is correct you'll need to replace the master cylinder.
If this is the "yellow" brake warning light it the ABS system (anti-lock brake system) you'll need to have a professional inspect this.
Why is security light on after i replaced old battery with new one wont start now ?
You lost power to the security module and it now needs a "relearn" performed. Make sure the battery stays connected for this relearn.
Turn the ignition to the "on" position and verify that the theft light is on or blinking. Then leave the key on for at least 30 minutes without disturbing the vehicle. After 30 minutes come back to vehicle and observe the theft light. Should be on steady or off. Do not turn the key off, move it from "run" to "start" and attempt to start vehicle. Engine should start and run if system was successfully relearned.
