The engine in the Bonneville is known to have problems with the intake manifold, this can cause poor idle and sometimes a smell. The pipe from the EGR valve causes the plastic next to it to melt, sometimes coolant can get into the intake. This needs to be looked at as soon as possible, because water getting into the cylinders can cause major damage.

I presume you're asking if they will interchange?The 616 ASw tag number looks valid,that would be decoded,1996 year model.the 3rd 6 in "616" is the year model,and the ASw looks valid as the actual axle ratio code,which i will have to look up at work,but the second tag,recheck those numbers,i can't make any sense of them.

Make sure battery is charged. You should have very bright headlights etc.Look for loose wires on starter. Remove starter & have it tested.

Check the manual and locate where the dash fuse is. It's probably a large fuse. Pull it to see if its blown. Check the two contacts to see if it's bad. There may be a short in the system somewhere, causing the blown fuse. If not that, then check the dimmer switch.
