1999 Nissan Altima - Page 3 Questions & Answers
3 out of 4 window wont work
Either the relay or the winder motors are gone. But one would not rule out wiring problems as wires get old and break in particular around the door hinges. Wonder the window on which door is still ok.
How do you change brake switch on Nissan altima
It's very easy, just turn 1/4 turn to the left and it will pop right out. When installing new one make sure you push it in far enough to depress the switch button, but not too far as to apply the brake.
My 1999 Altima will not go in gear manual trans
Check to see if it will go into gear with the engine off, Key in in and on but not started. If it will and will not when the engine is running it means the clutch is not disengaging the engine from the transmission and the synros are holding you our.
EGR Monitor will not reset
Hi Sandy, I'm glad to help!
Sandy, If you have an EGR Monitor that will not set then most likely there is something wrong with the EGR System. There are several things that can cause this depending on the vehicle and engine type. (1) Bad EGR Valve. (2) EGR Vacuum Solenoid. (3) EGR Vacuum Solenoid Wiring problem. (4) EGR Flow problem due to restriction from carbon build-up. These things must be addressed one by one and repaired before it will ever run that monitor. To answer your question you can GOOGLE your vehicle year, make and model and engine for monitor drive cycle and it will show you how it must be driven exactly. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Sandy.
Alternator keeps going out
Have your battery checked before you put any more alternators in the car. If your battery has a dead cell or just needs replaced it could be making your alternators cover too much slack and burning them up.
Going through alternators
Hi there, I am a girl (i.e. not car savvy), but I have a 1998 Altima as well, and the first time (4 months ago) I noticed the brake and battery lights on simultaneously, I took it to a Nissan service shop. Everything seemed fine until about a month ago when the symptoms returned. I ignored the problem for 3 days and the car just stopped running, period. Took it back to the shop, figured out it was a fauly alternator, got it sorted, no problem. Today (1 month after replacement), I see the same bloody problem, and I'm taking it back to the shop in the morning. I am wondering... is it the alternator, or something connected to the alternator that is malfunctioning? The 2 alternators put in were "rebuilt" since they didn't have genuine Nissan alternators available. I really hope the dealers aren't taking me for a merry ride.
EGR Monitor will not reset
Hi Sandy, I'm glad to help!
Sandy just a week ago I fixed a Mitsubishi with the same problem. The EGR Monitor would not set, it turns out the vacuum solenoid that goes to the EGR Valve was bad. I replaced for the lady and it fixed the problem. NOTE: I can't say that is what's keeping your monitor from running. BUT, its a real cheap fix and worth a try, don't you think. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Sandy!
