i have a nissan maxima 95 mdel,it stalls some time when i slows down, sometime at idle when this happens it will be difficult to start the engine again,i changed fuel pump, fuel filer yet problem is not soleved
Every answer here is wrong. This has been driving people nuts for 15 years. The problem is the engine wiring harness which has a bend going past the right strut tower, Nissan had a service bulletin on this in September of 1999, Google it, it's in pdf.

My car shuts off sometimes when put in reverse. It does this usually after it has been driven. It hasn't happen in the mornings. Its weird because I can restart it, put it drive, and take off with no problem and it idles good. Now if I put it reverse after going forward it will stay running. Need some suggestions Please.
dear friend-i think what your car needs is conditioner to soften the seals and valve body,if this does not work you wil have to remove the valve body and clean.

I drove my car from work to home, stopped for less than 2 minutes and turned off car. I went to start it back up and it will not start. We tried to jump it, and nothing. I have power completely, it won't turn over. I had the starter, battery, and alternator check last week and was told by an Auto Zone worker that all was good. Any suggestions? My father is thinking it could be the ignition switch. How would we test this?
You may have bad solenoid, starter/battery/solenoid connections, or gound.
Check voltage at starter solenoid when somebody turns key to start. That is where the starter switch, or relay, sends the voltage to pull in the solenoid coil through small wire. I think the solenoid is on the starter for this car, but it may be separate. Autozone has an excellent web site with car-specific repair guides and instructions. You should see 12V at solenoid every time the key is turned to start.
Check big power cable to starter that runs direct from the battery for tight connections. If you have a separate solenoid, then another big cable runs from it to starter. A loose or bad connection could be the culprit. Also check starter mount bolts. They need to be tight for a good solid electrical ground. You also need good ground from frame to engine. Its a long shot, but sometimes the ground straps come loose or burn. You can easily check this by measuring resistance between engine block and negative battery terminal. It should be zero or darn near zero (less than 1 ohm ?).
The solenoid is really a heavy duty swich to handle the high amp load to the starter. It works by a coil that pulls in the big switch. The coil operates from the starter switch and needs onlyt low current and small wire. If the coil wires burn up or there is a bad connection, it won't work. Hope this helps.

nissan maxima stalls when put in gear. Idles ok but is a little shaky. same thing in neutral. Cant go in reverse or drive without dying.
Typically this is due to a vacuum leak. (Yes, it could be tons of other things like the timing, fuel flow, etc. - but let's cover the easy stuff first).
There's enough power to keep the engine running, but once in gear the resistance of the torque converter kills the engine.
There are numerous little black hoses under the hood - about soda straw thickness. Look for any that have become disconnected or are brittle and may have broken.
You can also light an incense stick and pass it all over the area above the engine while it is idling, looking for anywhere that either sucks in smoke or blows against it.
When you find a disconnected hose, try to find a nipple to push it back on to.
You may also find a nipple or hole on the engine that is sucking in the incense smoke, but can't find a hose to attach to it. Just clean off the metal as well as you can and put a piece of black electrical tape over it and see if that makes the engine run better.

How to reset the anti theft system in a 1995 maxima
I read somewhere I believe in Maxima Forums if you turn the ignition key to the ON position...not starting the car, and leave it on for ten minutes minimum without touching anything it will reset itself.
Worth a shot.

its leaking on the passenger side, like the top side of the oil area where the oil goes in at. I was told it was a camshaft position sensor and i could replace the O ring
if your car has alot, saying that im talkin 200.000 plus miles on it poss could be that sensor o ring, they very rarley fail unless lots of miles on drive train.without knowing how bad the leak is or any other pertinant info, like any recent service done? how long has it been leaking? does it only leak while running?while running under a load? or just sitting? all off the above? my guess would be valvecover gasket, front cam seal, oil fill cap, cyl head gasket? with just the info at hand to go on it could be any of these things pretty much in that order,if you can do a little more investigative work to answere some of the questions i asked you should get a verry accurate answere and poss things to address along with whatever maintenence needed to remedy the leak .

Car: Nissan Maxima SE 1997 I was driving along at about 65mps when the tachometer/RPM gauge suddenly went from 2000 rpm to over the redline and then stayed there even though I brought the car to standstill and engine was normal. The tachometer needle is still at 8000+ RPM
how can I fix the tachometer?
the dash voltage egulator probably went bad. First, check the battery & make sure you have 12 volts, not running. Check it again running & you should see about 14.5 volts. If that's good,I'd replace the guage assembly.
