Stalls at idle, misfires when driving
this is probably going to be rotor(distributer) , spark plugs, and/or plug wires...its time for a tuneup.. replace those and it should run like new... there is an outside chance it could be a bad head gasket or cracked head but you would be losing water and your radiator would have to be filled every so often..also there would be some steamy smoke coming out of the tailpipe..if thats not happening then do the tuneup..

Did you hook all the lines for the fuel pump up when the engine was re-installed? It is definitely a fuel issue. Disconnect the fuel line and crank over the engine to check for fuel supply.

Try running a good fuel system cleaner through it. Sitting alot allows condensation to form in fuel tank. Also condensation forms on plugs, etc... Pill plugs and inspect, but do run system cleaner regularly.

Hook up a fuel pressure tester start and let run until dies and check pressure if plenty of pre.ssure If this is a carberated engine tune your air and fuel mixture jets located in front bottom of the carb.., hook up vacuum and set to your hightest reading and then set your idle screw to prefered idle which is around 8 RPM If this is a injected system hook up a fuel pressure guage and start engine and let it run until it stops keep an eye on pressure to see if the pressure drops or stops if so replace fuel ****

When it stalls again open the tank cap and immediately try to start it. If it starts up the problem is with the tank vent. Quick solution : drill a 2mm hole in the filler top of the filler neck as close to the cap as possible. This is not recommended due to gas and vapor leaking from this hole.
Long solution : Locate the ventilation hose on the tank and check and clear any blockages in the pipe or vent cap.
Test the fuel pump:
Electrical pump. The pump is situated on the inside of the chassis rail just ahead of the rear axle. Remove the pump outlet and place the end into a jug/bottle. Switch on the ignition. It should pump at leat 1.4 litre in 60 seconds. Test the pump pressure. It should be between 3.1 to 3.8 p.s.i.
Mechanical pump:
Test the pressure 3.0 to 3.9 psi.
Volume test. The pump should deliver at least 1litre of fuel in 60 seconds at 1000 rpm. Remove the pump from the side of the engine. If these tests fail replace the pumpbecause even though it can be repaired, replacement parts are nigh on impossible to come by and more often than not cost more than a replacement pump. If you cannot find one, replace with an aftermarket electrical pump. You will need to blank off the hole left by the old pump. Do this by refitting the old pump or making a plate out of 3mm fat bar, drilled and cut to cover the hole. Use gasket maker as sealant.
