1989 Mercedes-Benz 190 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My 1989 mercedes 2.6 has a problem when i give it gas tends to be sluggish. every part from tank to fuel dis to injctors have beem done. when i try to ajust fuel my Lamba needles stay at .4 and does n
Lambda is a measure of the air fuel ratio and the aim is to have a Lambda of 1, though usually the range of 0.9 to 1.1 is acceptable. A lambda of 1 equates to the ideal air fuel ratio of 14.7 and at 0.4 the mixture would be so weak or lean it is a miracle the engine runs at all.
I suggest you begin by suspecting the device you are using to measure the lambda.
I notice you mention fuel distributor and being able to adjust the fuel. It is clear your car is fitted with a continuous injection system, a comparatively crude system with little or no computer interference. Measuring the lambda is fairly inappropriate as the system was designed to be adjusted by CO content which from memory was 0.5 to 1.5, though it was difficult to persuade well-used models to perform well with a CO level less then 2.5.
A CO level of 2.5 would put your lambda tester off the scale (rich).
As you say everything has been done to the fuel system so you can warrant the fuel pressure is correct and the fuel distributor and injectors are correct for the car. What about the valve and ignition timing? Has the exhaust been checked for obstruction?
I am wondering two things; firstly, are you confusing lambda and CO content and secondly are you sure you are adjusting the amount of fuel that is being injected and not merely adjusting the air screw.
From memory the fuel adjustment uses a long allen key or screwdriver to reach the adjustment that is in a deep recess in the air cleaner/fuel regulator/fuel distributor. See repair manual for details.

Hello, i have a 190e 2.0 petrol, the
Your timing is too far advanced. Loosen the distributor securement bolt and back it off a couple of degrees in timing. It isn't that it has too much compression for the starter, it's just firing way too soon to start and run.

Does the 1989 190 v6 have a chip in key
You sure its a V6?
The 190E 6cyl was an inline 6 and no I'm not aware of them having a chip. None of my 190E's or the 300E had a chip in the key. Not even my 92 S320

That will be the item that has the high tension leads going to the spark plugs. If you have to ask it may mean that you don't have one as the coils or attached directly on to the plugs and the cpu does the distributing

Good luck in your quest. If you don't have any luck you should be able to purchase one either from Haynes or possibly "faxonautoliterature.com". Hope this helps.

Where is the fuse box on a 1989 190D Mercedes
The fusebox is located under the bonnet at the rear of the right/hand wing, the lid unclips and has the fuse listing on the underside.
Please make sure the lid is replaced correctly, as water will soon cause relay and fuse problems.

Press the horn and just
what you hear is the horn relay which tells me that the fuse, wiring, horn pad,and relay is good.thus the horn itself is no good and needs replacing.

There is no power going to spark plugs why? and
You can test coil by pulling coil wire and holding close to a grounded source while someone cranks the car (wear gloves strongly advised). The only way to test an alternator if car is not running, is to take alternator off & bring to a parts store to have them bench test it.

My air conditioning for my 1989 mercedes 190e 2.6 is not working
first the a/c issue is probably due to low charge. Need to recharge, if you still had R12 in there you need to have it updated to R134A or find someone who has R12 which is tough.
Starting issues are tough to explain without more info but if you mean your starter doesnt turn the motor I would suggest a new battery as you probably have a weak one or it has a bad cell. If your starter turns but it wont start could be the OVP relay, the cold start vale or any number of ignition parts from the coil to the plugs.
