The best idea is to access the Engine Control Module (ECM) using suitable diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC's memored. DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code. Then you will bu full informed about the root cause of the problem, and you will be able to repair & replace bad pieces and reset the ECM.

Insure the rod running to the actual ignition switch moves freely. It is at the top of the column and surfaces at the bottom.

Leave it SWITCHED ON ..UNDISTURBED for as long as it takes to automatically reset itself.

you will have to remove the whole column and cut the old one off with a radial cutter then ,only way i know of

Ok you have a viscous fan, roll up a newspaper and while running try and stop the fan if you can all the oil has leaked out of it and should be rebuilt or replaced. Also temp sensor which there are 3 of may be bad. Make sure your electric fan/fans are turning on if not check the strip fuse on the firewall by the brake booster in a black tootsie roll sized case. Also check the resistor block under the drivers side headlight area because it can go bad and the fans wont get power. Also age of the radiator can mean scale from non distilled water being in the system reduces it effeciency. Also cap not holding pressure or cracks in the radiator or reservoir will cause loss of pressure and boiling of coolant.

Sppin all the fuses as they have aluminum ends and corrode on the coppper contacts.

When you get a chance repplace with new barrel fuses with copper end.

Also clean off any brown wire ground contacts you find bolted down, at the passenger strut mount, behind the instrument cluster, under the carpet drivers side in the trunk.
