4wd not engaging
I would replace the 4 wheel drive switch ,this may take care of the problem if it does not it will need a 4x4 transfercase motor
Flap that directs air to vent, floor defrost broken
I go to the dealer spares department when I have a problem like this and have them show me a picture of the vent system in the car and I point to the bit that I want. Saves a lot of time and energy when you can point to the bit As to how to replace it the break down will also show the area and you can see if there are clips or what to get the bit replaced.

Check the grounds near the back of the block on passenger side- (it's electrical, so you're in for a fun time on this one) Then start elimination process, one fuse or change at a time. Do yourself a favor, and keep a log of EVERY change you make...

Go to the store and buy some throttle body cleaner. Remove the air cleaner hose and you will see the gate that opens when you push the pedal. See how much gum is in it. To clean it have someone start it and hold the throttle about 1500 rpms and spray the cleaner in the intake.
4X4 not engaging/disengaging properly
Check the 4X4 fuse, make sure that it's good or replace it with another fuse. The Transfer-case Actuator motor may have gone bad and may need to be replaced. Check the wire harness at the Transfer case motor, look for any damages like corrosion or cracked harness clips. Push the button for the 2wd and 4wd hi and low and see if you can hear the Transfer case motor is working, if it's not working then replace. The dealer is costly so try Auto Zone or Parts Source and they will have the step by step instructions for you to get the job done with common tools. Good luck and keep me posted.
Stall, rough idle
Many times the Idle Air Control (IAC) is dirty. Could be many things, but that has happened to me. I cleaned it twice and ended up replacing it. Check/replace the air filter.
''96 Silverado no tail lights.
if that doesn't help, you might want to check the bulbs. the damage might have shorted which burned out the bulbs. but you do have one wire that runs to the rear and splits off to the tail lights. the wire should run back to the head light switch via a fuse. the headlights have its own relay. but i hope it is just a fuse.
