1992 Chevrolet Corvette - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I have a 92 corvette and I have power at the
mcdevito75 here, At the relays wiggle the wires to see for loose connection, also see if you can jump the fan direct to the battery to see if the fan works., Also the fan relay could be bad, or the temp. Between the relays and fan there is a temp sensor that puts the fan on, jump that and see if the fan works.
Having problem with my 92 vette dieing on me in
When was the last tune up? What was changed? Coils are notorious for a non running condition. Dead cell in battery or loose battery connections can make it stall. Bad alternator also. Bad fuel filter or fuel pump. Any of these are places to start checking.
What do I need to change in order for the turn
Sounds like the switch assembly is broken. There is a detent spring built into the turn switch,so I'm thinking the plastic ramp or the spring are damaged.Since this repair will involve removing the air bag,you may want to bring this to a pro.The leather seats in your 'Vette can produce a lot of static electricity...extra care must be used when handling of the air bag
1992 corvette my gas gauge stays on full
Sounds like the float is stuck on the sensor in the tank. You could try takeing a rubber mallet when the tank is near empty and rap on the under side or any where you have access. If this doesn't work you may have to drop the tank and replace the level sensor.Well good luck and hope this helps.
Fan won't shut off-service ride & service engine soon on
Buy a scanner or go to Autozone and have them pull the codes out. get back to me with the codes and I'll figure it out for you.
But the fan could be the relay or the coolant temperature sensor and ECU that controls the circuit. Have the coolant , hoses and thermostat been changed lately. Start with those things.
Get the shop manual and test the coolant temperature sensor, relay and ECU. These are simple checks usually a visual inspectionor a little probing with a Digital Voltmeter will solve the problem.
Ehgin running rough
You got a check engine light viewing. If so get the shop manual make youself a jumper wire and jump the terminals it tells you to jump and count the flashes for the codes. The ECU/ Brain terminal is under the ash tray. If there are no codes or a check engine light welcome to the wondeful world of being a Corvette owner I 've owned the same car since 1981.
Basically, check the idle, you may want to replace wires, Distributor cap and rotor. Thats worked for me in the past. Once the PCV valve was stuck. Pull it out and shake it if it rattles its fine. You can blow thre it to has to accept air one way but not the other. The shop manual will tell you to do the same.I believe they may go a step further and recommend an oil change and minor cleaning of the carb. I use mine for shows and because I don't run it regularily I get the same problem. I usually let it run for a few hours (ideling of course) lol... and it works itself out . Keep me posted
My 1992 corvette will not idle above .5 rpm wants to die.
Sounds to me you should do some checking and diagnosis first. Start with simple stuff like checking the spark plugs to see if they are fouled or if you have a damaged plug wire or even a loose or unhooked plug wire or plug. Then check all your vacuum hoses to see if there are any that are damaged, dry rotted or not functioning. Then check O2 sensors, idle control valves etc...
Finally if you've checked all that, then I'd opt for a new optispark (the term used for the distributor on these engines), and that's quite a labor intensive job.... and a new optispark is rather expensive at around 300-500 US dollars.
Good luck.
Took off TPS? to clean up. Replaced with new
could have damaged the tps. if the tps shorts out and shows like its full throttle, it goes into clear flood mode and shuts down the injectors. try unplugging the tps and try to start. it it starts, replace the tps.
