Use a test light and see if there is power to the switch. Then depress the pedal and you should have power on both sides. If there is no power to the switch, check the harness from the fuse box to the switch. If it got that hot, it may have melted the wire covering in the harness. You can use a jumper wire to the power side of the switch and try the brake pedal. You can get an inline fused wire and connect to the power side wire and see if it blows the fuse. That will tell you if the feed in wire is grounded. If there is power at the switch and goes through when you press the pedal down, look at the harness under the truck, especially around connections. Hope this helps. Mike

Is the choke operating properly? You say the current carb has an electric choke, so I am assuming the original carb did not have an electric choke. If that's the case, have you wired the electric choke to a power supply?

1991 chevy c1500 manual trans won't shift

Is the clutch working? Will it roll freely when engaged? If so then it probably is just the linkage sync in the top of transmission. Or it is stuck in probably first or third? Not positive how that one is. But there is three movable linkages. 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and R. In order to shift a different one the one your on has to go back to neutral or the other one won't shift. The gearshift probably jumped over to one that won't move. And you have to take it off and set them back to neutral and put it back together.

Or It has broken gears, which would have to be real bad to keep it out of all gears.

I hope this helps. Too late Im sure.

Any chance there's a label under the hood that shows it (normally with engine ID and emissions info). If not, try ordering spark plugs at advance auto parts website - they'll usually show the proper gap info on the item description.
