2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT won't start. Battery good. Replaced starter with brand new starter. Worked for a week. Now, won't start just like before starter was replaced. What could be wrong?

I had the same problem Its your security system failing it is really common in GM vehicles i guess. I took my car in and they wanted a ridiculous amount of money to fix it so i did some research and found a module that you can install yourself and it will bypassed it and i havent had a problem since the car starts every time and i did mine 5 years ago. they have great customer service and if for some reason it doesnt work they will refund you 100% of your money. I checked the list and your car in on there year make and model for the problem.. Hope this helps ya out http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.com/ Do It Yourself GM Security bypass

P0544 Code and problems with my Mechanics!

There is no code P0544 , maybe you mean P0455 ? The control module tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a large leak. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor signal to determine the EVAP system vacuum level. When the conditions for running are met, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve OPEN and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve CLOSED . This allows engine vacuum to enter the EVAP system. At a calibrated time, or vacuum level, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve closed, sealing the system, and monitors the FTP sensor input in order to determine the EVAP system vacuum level. If the system is unable to achieve the calibrated vacuum level, or if the vacuum level decreases too rapidly, this DTC sets. It's called EVAP purge solenoid , the front one . An your Mechanic is probably not full of it . You need to know how the system works . If the computer set's a code for that system , it will not test it again till it's fixed an sometime other problems come up . After he fixed the first problem he should have told you that after a day or two or a couple of key cycles , starting the car cold till warm an a cold start again , sitting over night , 8 hours . Then the computer will retest the system . An other codes may set . Before putting blame , you should have to read about OBD 2 emissions , before being able to have a vehicle .

Where are is the neutral safety switch on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8

SECURITY light lt on the instrument cluster ? Anti-theft system problem . You would need to take the driver wheel off to get at the transmission side cover off . The neutral safety switch is part of the internal mode switch . inside the transmission . Do you know what a relay is ? Myself , i would check the crank relay . Check in your under hood fuse box . Watch this video , he is showing a horn circuit but the crank relay works the sameway . VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis If you jump 30 & 87 the starter will engage and start the vehicle . Before you start replacing parts check out the starter circuit wiring diagram . The crank relay is computer controlled . http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter the vehicle info. year, make , model and engine size . Then under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on starting . Now check out the diagram . Truefully ,your best bet would be to take to a qualified repair shop or GM dealer .

How do you reset the anti theft after someone tried to steal the car? When you turn on the key all the instruments work , radio works but starter will not turn over, the anti theft says disabled.

My mechanic made a gizmo that he disabled the Anti Theft and left it so I don't have it any more.. That has to do with the chip on your key as well. See what happens if you try a different key if you have one.
