Disconnect the battery. Disconnect the ECM electrical and sensor connections. Remove the ECM mounting bolts. Remove ECM. Install is reverse.

Well what happens is as you select drive, it doesn't give the power signal to the solenoid that let the oil flow into first gear. If your first gear works then it is the selector you should worry about, it'd be likely contacts problem, if you are a DIY guy with a detail mind then have a go at taking the shifter off and work it make sure it selects all gears.

Try having someone push on brake pedal at the same time thay move the turn signal lever up and down slightly to see if your brake lights work this would tell me that you have a faulty turn signal switch because GM runs the brake lights thru the turn signal switch so they work if you are driving with your 4way flashers on.

You need to drive the car with a scan tool hooked up and look at the data for the transmission and see if the tcc solenoid is being cycled by the computer, if it is then the transmission is doing what it is told to do and the problem is most likely a speed sensor issue or an engine load sensing issue like a bad map/ mass airflow sensor.If the tcc solenoid is not be cycled then you probaly have a wear issure in the valve body( common) in the tcc regulator bore.A good rebuilder would address this problem and a used transmission would probaly have the same problem.Good luck!
