I have a 2000 Mercedes E430 base sedan. Last week I replaced the brake light switch because it was out and it solved the problem to the point that I can now put my car into gear and drive it, however,
Brake light switch problem may cause the ESP / BAS lights to illuminate.
Common symptoms of a bad
Mercedes brake light switch.
- Car stuck in Park.
- ABS ESP ETS lights come on.
- Can not move the shifter from Park to Drive.
- Brakes Defective Warning on Instrument Cluster
- Car won't shift gears. Stuck in 2nd gear, limp mode.
- Brake lights don't work. (Brake light switch can still be defective even if the brake lights work. Checking the brake light operation is not a good test.)
- ESP, BAS, ABS lights turn on. Car won't shift properly. Stuck in gear.
TEST: To test your new brake light switch: Turn you car off to reset the ABS light. apply the parking brake. and start the car in neutral or park without using the brake. if the problem is the brake light switch... the light will only come on when you press the brake pedal.
If you replaced the brake light switch and the light is still on you should check a few other things such as:
- Fuses and Relays
- ABS pump
- ABS wheel speed sensor
- Brake Fluid Level
- Get an advanced scanner to read trouble codes.
NOTE: ** You may need a MBZ scan tool to reset the error code which was stored in the ECU because of the bad brake light switch.

Fix jammed sunroof
If the sunroof is out of it's rail this is possible to happen , you have to reset it in position(by bushing it from inside the machine to upside) and then it will work.

i take it is an automatic chech the gear box oil level if there is not enough oil in the box it will not change open the bonnet ther should be a filler some where on the ( if you looking at the engine ) left hand side near the bulk head of the engine bay a red ring similer to the dip stick make sure that it is the filler for the gear box check level first then top up

Steering wheel stuck
Forgot to mention I am sure that you can not turn your key.
I am also certain that you are not able to start your car.
If there is any red light blinking one would simply need to turn the key on and press the disarm button at or near the blinking light not hard to find.
The best shot is that there may be a force preventing the key from turning, this would usually be a force against the steering wheel. If you are not able to remedy the situation as I described to you on my previous answer try this. Have some one help you to jack up the front wheels just clear of any roadway or parking curb then try to insert the key release the wheel apply the brake select netural and then let the car back onto the roadway.

Noise when applying brakes on my e240
Brakes could be worn down allowing a safety feature to make a noise, or if it is a grinding noise your disc pads are worn out and need replacing

2001 e320 cdi estate changed battery turned on and
You may just need to reset your throttle sensor. There is no hard connection between the gas pedal and the engine its electronic. To reset :All auxiliary systems must be off (radio, lights.aircon, etc) no
electrical drains or CAN signals can be triggered during the process.
Turn the Key to the "on" position (the position right before you start your engine)
Press and hold your gas pedal down for 5-10 seconds
Turn Key to "off" position (dont remove the key) and then release the gas pedal. than wait 2 minutes, for the system to reset. Again without touching anything or having anything on.Thats should do it. When you replace the battery you usually have to do the radio code, yaw steering sensor, throttle and sometimes transmission. On my last battery just had to do the radio but was expecting to do all.
