sounds like the transmission is in limp home mode where it won't shift out of second gear. this is a fail safe mode. If the check engine light is on too then its probably not seeing one of the speed sensors in the transmission. Just need to have the codes pulled in the transmission control module.

Get a scanner hooked up, that will start you on the right path.

hi there is apump for every door . you should change that pump for repair of this door.

They all like that , you have to beat on it.
You can either do it with robber hummer (good size), or peice of wood and regular hammer .
Do it only from inner side of rim , tap it , turn it , tap it turn it.(By tap I mean wack).
When you put rim back , after whatever you need to do , clean hub and rim and put some lubricant on surfaces.

the battery is hidden away in the trunk under a sub panel of the floor.

this is only a suggestion but some cars have a safety feature wich to keeps people from snooping around your car that has access to your keys. make sure by reading your owners manual that there is not a button like in your glove box or center console box you may have mistakenly hit. I do not know about mercedes but for instance toyota provides you with what is called a vallet key wich is a third key wich will only allow you to open the door and you start the car not allowing glove box or trunk entry like a said this is only a suggestion it very well could be a broken cable or an electrical malfunction. good luck

try to replace the sensor that measures if the boot dor is closed, should be near the system that keeps the boot dor down
