My remote ky to luck
Inside the key less remote there is a thin piece of copper that the battery sits under. Make sure it is in the correct spot. If it is not exactly where it is suppose to be you have no battery connection. If you find that this part has broken loose it will still work if placed correctly.
My slk 230 appears to
It is coming from your heater core. This is a metal element that transfers hot water through the two heater lines coming through the firewall under the hood. They tend to rust out and will leak at the hose fittings. Sorry, this is not a job you want to attempt on your own. The core is not easy to remove and if not installed carefully, you can damage the unit. I suggest taking it to a Mercedes alternative shop, NOT THE DEALER to have it replaced. It will be much cheaper and the part quality will be comparable to the OEM.You can resole the leaking problem by placing a union connector on the two heater hoses coming through the firewall, basically bypassing the heater element. If this is of interest to you let me know and I will walk you through the procedure.
"Error" and "StArt" shows
Do you have a spare key ? does the fault still persist with the 2nd key , if so try disconnecting the battery and leave off for 10 mins , if fault persists it could be the transponder ring that is fitted around the ignition barrel that is faulty or the drive authorisation unit that is faulty (WSP) only MB star diagnosis equipment will be able to confirm this.A normal scan tool will not detect the error causing this problem. If you dont have another key, then you will have to get another new key to start it.The immobilizer chip in the key is damaged and so its not detecting the key and you get this "start error".The immobilizer is within the fob of your key. Its very tiny, chip.

Also in some cases this error is caused by faulty battery or loose battery cables.Check the condition of battery terminals, are they worn out and shorting.

So either its key or internal ecu OR the battery or loose battery terminals. In some rare cases its any blown fuse in the fuse panel under the dash. But fuse problem is very rare.

If you have only one key then, you will have to get another key from dealer to test it with that key.But if you have another key and same problem with both the keys then, its not possible that both keys are faulty. Then its battery to be checked. If battery and its connection checked out perfectly ok.The check fuse box under dash.If any fuse is blown, just replace it.The fuses are not very costly. But if all fuses also checked ok then getting scanned at mb dealer scantool is advisable. That will give error codes and as per that faulty part to be replaced.

This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
