1998 Mercedes-Benz SLK - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Hi there and thanks in advance, 1998 Mercedes SLK
Most likely you had water entering the PSE module and pump bay and shorting it. You will need to remove the PSE module from the trunk and see if the water has reached it then measure the voltage on the output to the pump: if the module delivers the correct voltages then the pump is faulty, if not then obviously it's the module. You should also check the vacuum pipes leading to the doors, they might have got somehow pinched.
You will have to dry everything and replace the failed part -
Use this site, it's very detailed

Unable to open hard top
another suggestion is that you need to have the code re-entered for the hardtop. I just had mine repaired due to a busted hydrolic hose, and the mechanic had a hard time getting it to work properly and ended up having to re-enter the codes.

For a 1998 Mercedes SLK Automatic when engine
Could be mechanical, fluid or electronic problem.
Fault will be indentified with a diagnostic scanner. Check for shop with a Star or Launch scanner.
If they don't understand your request...run away !
Being as it happens warm, I would think it is a bad forward clutch drum seal allowing fluid pressure to drop below operating pressure. If so, trans' will need repair.

I am trying to remove the factory radio in a 1998
I have a 1998 SLK230 and I can't adjust the vents for cool air. It only comes out hot. Could this also be related to an inability to lock or unlock either door form inside or remotely?
thanks
