Have a 86 Olds 98 with power door locks. Driver's

Most likely the solenoid in the driver's door has failed and will have to be relaced. You can check this by removing the door panel to gain access to the soeoid, remove the rod (be careful with the plastic clips), and try the key. If it opens and closes the lock with no resistance, it is the solenoid. Replace it and your done. I hope this helps and good luck.

Back firing through the caburator

That system should be pretty conventional so you need to check ignition timing if you have a light to do it or have a service shop do it. They shouldn't charge much to check it or, as far as that goes, to adjust it if needed.
It doesn't sound like a serious problem and you can check before you go (engine off) to see if the distributor can be moved by trying to rotate it.
You should put some kind of mark to show where it was before you try this since you could otherwise make it worse.

You have to expect though that with almost 30 years 'experience' you may need the distributor and if they are original, perhaps ignition wiring too, replaced.
A rebuilt will do fine; new, they can be costly.
