We have tried three different starters on a 1986

Check to make sure what trans you have. Someone could've changed the trans to something different, or maybe they are giving you a chevy starter when you need a BOP starter.

Trans doesnt like reverse

That is a good trans - damn near bullet proof, change the fluid and filter and replace it with B&M trick shift or ((Hurst Hot Shift fluid)) these fluids preserve the bands and gives firm shifts instead of the lazy slip into gears , you will notice a really big difference in the efficiency of the trans and nice shifts as well - only need to change whats in thew pan, also while you are under there check your linkage because sometimes it needs re adjusted (adjust on the thing that is a round cylindrical thing with a bolt on the side - your shift rod goes through this) have a partner get in ((after)) you loosen the bolt and have them put the needle on the dash centered on the (P) - retighten

1986 cutlass stalling and high idels while in park

Check for vacuum leaks at the intake and carb. base. Check your vacuum hoses and your brake booster hose. While running, spray WD-40 along the intake and see if the idle changes. Do the same with the carb. and visually check all your hoses for cracks or breaks.

Trans doesnt like going into reverse

look for a vacumn leak ??if not then put a litre of diesel into transmission and drive it around for an hour then drain and refill ,might not work but sometimes it does on older boxes with all this flash computer stuff on them

2008 Ford Edge engine surge while stopped in gear

Sounds like a faulty Throttle position sensor. Warranty should pay for parts & damage, talk to your dealer. The 88 -90 ford tempos had same problem & a driving school was using them, lots of kids & instructors got the heck scared out of them, but luckily no-one injured badly.

Manual transmission

1 of 2 things Happened 1 Whoever worked on it Disconnected the "VACUUM HOSE" to the "VACUUM MODUELATOR" This Unit is Located at the Side of the Transmission about 2/3 way back Driver side I Believe -- if not Passenger Side. Has useualy a Steal Line that runs from BEHIND Carb Leading down to the trans. Vacuum Moduelator helps Control the Shiftpoints
and without it it will ONLY SHIFT MANUALY. Hoping this is Good Info for you and you get it Corrected Please DONT FORGET TO RATE ME thanx RejakWilson

Oil change

first you need to know what size the engine is in canada its metric , how many litre? in the u.s. its cubic inches. is the engine a 4cyl. , 6cyl. or 8cyl. most tune ups nowadays consist of sparkplugs and sparkplug wires , and like the other you need to know the size of the engine. its better to go to a oil change garage when they have a special deal on.

1986 oldsmobile cutlass supreme

Either your oil needs to be changed but most importantly The clearance in the connecting rod bearing have more clearance then tolerances allow. This could be due in part of low oil pressure. The gauge might show safe pressure but a manual gauge would give an accurate pressure. Hope this helps.
