Check all fuses first and if good, then check power to the switch. If no power, might have a broken wire. If you do have power, then go to the actuator by the trunk and check to see if you have power at the harness. If yes, actuator is bad, if no, then you have a wire issue from switch to the actuator. To rule out actuator, run power directly and also ground it. If it works then you have a wiring problem.

I am not a GM expeert. But for Ford, the fuel pump only runs for 5 seconds after the key is turned to ON (unless the engine starts). This is for safety.
Can you hear the pump hum for 5 seconds when you turn the key ON?

Usually you have a 12 volt (sounds like your puprle) a ground and the other 2 are for the fuel gage.

sounds like a possible misfire, this could be caused by bad sparkplug, wire, coil, also check for a vacuum leak this will cause the engine to run lean and cause a misfire. if you gave me the year, make, model i could give you a better opinion of what i think my be happening

either the pump has a short in it or you have a wire pinched somewhere. Unplug the pump. If the fuse does not blow then the shorts in the pump or wiring to it.
