Hi, my tape deck in my car is spitting out my tapes

Hello,

Thanks for using FixYa.

Your tape deck's tape winding mechanism is stuck right now. One of the sensors thinks that your tape is bad and is making the motor stop running thus sending a command to the ejector for the tape to be spitted out to prevent further damage and overheating to the motor. This is a common problem for tape decks.

I hope this helps. Thanks and good day.

I try to start the car, and all lights on

Exact same problem I had and this is was the only thing that worked: http://newrockies.ca/vatsbypass I tried the typical resistor tricks but that did not work and just wasted my time. This one will get rid of the entire security system.

Engine cuts out intermittently.

An intermittent electrical problem can be maddening to fix. I have a similar problem in my truck. The connection to the engine fuse in the interior fuse block is loose. If I wiggle the fuse to re-establish contact, the engine will restart.

Next time the engine stalls, notice which of the lights illuminate on the dash. Compare this to which lights illuminate when you first turn the switch on and when engine will start. Applying the brakes probably shifts the loose connection enough to cause the engine to stall.

Car sputters and sometimes shuts down when it

You may have a choice of problems since the car is not apart as of yet. You will diffenently need to drop your fuel tank for sure. If you know the guage for the tank works correctly with what fuel is left inside of it your problem lays inside the tank. It very well could be from a contaminated fuel pump sock filter. On average your car in level most of the time when driving it. From the age of this car this filter will be full of contaminates that are sucked out of various underground tanks when you had filled your car with gas. The contaminates are generally sucked to the filter screen sticking into the mesh which is very fine although made very tough and durable. In time this filter will become enhanced with so much contaminates the car seens to drive very good untill it has problems going up and downhill. I know alot of tech that replace fuel oumps in the tack and remove this filter and will not replace it with a new one. They simply leave it off. Their theory is to have the fuel filter replaced every year by telling the customer to do so. I highly do not recomend this theory for the fuel filter has a nicron paper and screen to filter out the fuel. The filter for the pump is made of different material and does filter contaminates much better the the standard fuel filter that is inline with your gas line.

I have a 1993 Olds 88 that is stuck in neutral.

It sounds like it is your neutral control switch. It cost $90.99 at autozone. I just replaced mine, it is under the hood, on the drivers side. Two connector wires, and one to the starter.

If you look at it while someone goes through the gears, you should be able to see the problem. It should move as the gear box is engaging. You can look it up at autozone.com to get a look at it.
