Can a novice replace the

Generally, water pumps are fairly easy to replace. The serpentine belt has a tensioning pully that is spring loaded. There is a socket stud on the pully that should allow you to pull back on the pully, to release tension and remove the belt.

It can be done as a one person job, but generally is a lot easier with a 2nd set of hands. General process:
  1. Disconnect positive battery cable. (Eliminate the possibility of shock or accidental starting of engine.)
  2. Set parking brake
  3. Drain Radiator
  4. Remove Serpentine Belt (You will likely need to remove a shroud or 2 to gain access to the belt.)
  5. Remove the bolts holding the pump in place.
  6. Clean gasket surfaces
  7. Attach gasket to new water pump (I use cotton thread tied thru the holes toward the outside of the pump, using gasket sealer is dicey as if any sealant oozes out it can damage the seal and leak)
  8. Mount new pump, tighten bolts per instuctions (Here and installing the belt are where a 2nd set of hands is really nice)
  9. Install belt
  10. Add coolant
  11. Connect battery
  12. Start engine, check for leaks, add coolant to full level once engine up to temperature.
You only gave the Brand an Year, so answers are kinda generic. If you give model (Cutlass etc) and Engine size and type (3.4 L V-6 etc) then we can give more detailed information.

Belt slipped off my 1990

Your water pump is leaking, the coolant got on the belt and caused the belt to slip, u will need to replace the water pump and re-installl the belt. do you intend on installing the water pump yourself, if so need to know what engine you have.

Immediately after oil pan gasket change, oil lite

Oil could be full, but does it give the correct amount of oil pressure? Check the oil pressure with a by-pass gauge on the engine. That will answer all.

Blower won't shut off on a 98 dodge intrepid.

you'll have to find the "relay bank" which may or may not be near or in fuse panel, its possible its under the hood by the passenger side firewall, the fan relay has "welded" its contacts and thats why it wont shut off by the switch, find the right relay and unplug-it that should stop the fan, then give the relay a rap or drop on ground, sometimes tyhat will un-weld contacts and replug in and see if it works again,if it does get a new relay cause most likely it will weld again later(contacts are shot)

92 olds 98 touring sedan w/ 3.8 sc. My a/c was

If your A/C indicator light is not coming on it could be a problem with the control on the dash that turns on the A/C. The A/C compressor may not be coming on at all (which could be a good thing if it's due to a switch malfunction). Compressors are expensive to replace and refrigerant leaks are expensive to diagnose and fix. Try this, with the engine running turn on your A/C and listen to hear if the A/C compressor turns on and off. If it doesn't check to see if there's an A/C fuse under the dashboard.

1990 Olds 98 RegencPower steering suddenly lost power.

blower motor relay and power steering have nothing in common. could be bad pump or clogged lines. i recommend draining the power steering pump with a suction device and flushing it with a couple bottles of power steering flush from your local parts store

1992 olds 98. The blower

I know I am alittle late for you, but incase you havent yet fixed the problem, its your ignition switch, located in the steering column under your key tumbler cost you around $75 dollars and this is very VERYcommon in bravada's. I own my own shop and ran across it a few times. Simple fix aslong as you have the know how. The reason this is happenening is because it sounds odd but that ignition switch olds put it for some reason supplies power and fuction to EVERYTHING in the vehicle including the tranny. Well good luck to all

Where is the blower motor fuse?

Open drivers door, on the side of the dashboard there is a panel cover, the fuses are behind that. Some have a fuse box under the dash, drivers side, and some have another fuse box under the hood, usually driver side.
