A easy fix is to put a battery disconnect on the negative post if the battery. Somewhat of a pain but cheap fix for now. Most of the time there is a light that stays on all the time.

Just some suggestions. Clean the end of your key and get an earbud and metho/alchol and clean the keyhole sensor. Change the battery in your key. Check the charge level on the battery. Recharge. Sounds as if it is in emergency service mode , if you can obtain or borrow an OBDC II reader ( I thinks it's OBD2 for that model ) it will show you the scan of the engine management diagnostics and give you fault codes corresponding to the faults in your car ( Know as DT's ) look on the Mercedes forums and they will tell you what fault codes mean .

Check your fuse chart and any fuse or relay that has to do with all your non functioning parts I recommend you checking with s tester you can get for five bucks anywhere they sell car parts or just pull them off and see if they are cracked or not

Replace the ignition switch. The vehicle ignition should not turn over the engine in the run position. No matter what you mess with.

brake light switch may need adjustment. if that is not it there may be a wire for another component shorting to the brake wire

fuse --relay ---light switch --light module . all are responsible for your problem along with a faulty earth wire connection.

If any electric welding was used on the car during the exhaust pipe work and the ground clamp wasn't in the proper location, there is a possability that your gearbox might have been damaged (fried).

Hi, You need to replace the cd changer. This is very common on these vehicles. The best place to get the changer is the dealership. I have seen them fit aftermarket changers in there but can not give any advise on that.

there is a government safety recall on the dash light instrument panel from Mercedes at no cost. Contact Mercedes for more info, my dealer had no clue about this so the instruction had to be sent from Mercedes to the dealer. I assume you checked the fuses first
