The battery is dead on my 1998 C180 mercedes benz
In the bonnet on the the left side there is a small box with two wires. Put a jumper on the positive wire and just ground the negative. That is connected to the battery and you can open the boot to access the battery.

I have 2003 E500 MB.
Most likely the speaker's center dust cap came loose (this is common on Audis, and maybe on M-B cars too). Just use a little glue and glue it back on and the rattle stops.

This is a 1998 Mercedes
SOUND LIKE PROBLEM THE KEY WORN OR LOCK CYLINDER COULD BE BROKEN .I WOULD CODE SCAN FOR FAULTY IMMOBILIZER MODULE OR KEY SWITCH COIL OR TRANSPONDER KEY.THE WAY MERCEDES BENZ GOT IT SET UP.IF IGNITION KEY AND LOCK CYLINDER ALSO IMMOBOLIZER MODULE HAS TO BE REPLACED THEY HAVE TO REPLACE AND REPROGRAM NOT A HOME FIX. THEY HAVE TO USE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT TO REPROGRAM KEY SWITCH AND IMMOBILIZER.
