Cigarette lighter is not working.
This problem will require some diagnosis: You'll want to start by checking the relevant fuse. If the fuse is good, use a voltage meter to check the voltage at the cigarette lighter. If there's no voltage, additional diagnosis will be needed to figure out if it's a wiring problem or if the socket itself has gone bad.

I have 1996 E class Mercedes with manual front
Hello
That type of information is not published by MB, but based on my extensive experience the loom is likely there, but none of the controls will be, to get all the parts needed will be VERY expensive. To check for the presence of the harness look under the seat for exposed connectors, there will likely be three of them that go to nowhere, they may also be covered by a carpet flap under the seat..

1996 e320d cranks but wont
How many car keys do you have.If you have 2 keys, then try with both keys and see if it starts and then runs.---------
This red and green light blinking on mirror is indication of weak remote battery. But in your case the remote battery is already been replaced and problem is still the same with new remote battery.-------
So try this procedure first.-------
Disconnect the car battery for 5 minutes.Clean the battery terminals with contact cleaner. Then reconnect battery terminals and turn the car on by key and see if its helping.--------
But if the problem is exactly the same then this problem is related to key.It has to be reprogrammed. The key has a code in it.When the key is connects the ignition cylinder. The code is read by ignition lock cylinder chip. But if this code is not getting read then it will not let the fuel pump to start. The car will start, but fuel pump will not get command , so car will crank and shut off.-------
In this case the car key and ignition cylinder chip needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer. That will let the key to transmit its code to ignition lock cylinder chip and car will start and let the fuel pump to run.----------
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Merc e class 1996... ets
This is just a traction control light.....If one wheel out spins the other it will make it come on at times ..You need a scan tool but you can disconnect the negative battery cable for 20 seconds and the light will go off......If it comes on again you will have to change wheel speed sensor...This is common with all vehicles with Traction control and ABS...Have it checked for saftey reasons...
But it happens with a lot of them.........Sensor replacement is normally what you have to do.
Sometimes battery disconnect works....You will have to reset clock.
Hope this helps..........................Metalpoet

1996 E300D- the REST ( engine residual heat
There's a thermostat/thermocouple on the W140 behind the console.
Not sure what you car's setup, but might want to check the codes since a
bad thermostat will likely throw a code. Had a bad thermostat create
warm air on my system. Might also want to clear the climate system fault codes & monitor thereafter.
Just run the diagnostics
How to Diagnose Air Conditioning Malfunctions
and the errors. You only need be concerned with 1-8 and 21 22 24 if you like a digital readout while you are testing things on the move.
If the the values fall out of range the system will trigger an error code the diagnostics will indicate it. Here you have additional information:

I would like to know hoe to replace a neutral
The Neutral Safety Switch is called the Gear Selector Switch by Mercedes Benz, it is mounted on the outside of the transmission, it goes over the shift shaft that comes out of the transmission, you must remove the shift cable to remove the switch, the cable should be on a ball socket and just pry it off and pop ot back on, you will need to raise the car up and support it with jack stands (be safe here) and get under the car, the switch will be on the drivers side and it is held in place by two fasteners in slotted holes for adjustment, pay attention to the old switch adjustment, reference the slots the switch has for the marks left by the retainers, get the new switch as close as possible to what the old switch adjustment. I have included below a picture of the switch for easy identification.
