2005 chevy colorado 3.5 spits and sputters on

Check the throttle position switch , replace if faulty as this can cause those faults. If the battery stays charge when not connected there has to be a short or a light on to run it down . Check in the glove box ect. to see if a light is staying on . make sure the alternator belts are tight and the voltage is around 14 volts.

601 is internal memory code. 899 is power take off code, Dealing with loss of power. 0164 is loss of communications. Again this could be loss of power. What happens when timing chain breaks on a vortec 2800 engine

It all depends on whether the engine is running at high rpm or not. If the engine is simply idling, you might be able to get away with simply changing out the timing belt only. If it was running at high rpm, then there is a possibility that damage to the valves could result. Find yourself a manual for your vehicle and follow the steps carefully. If by some chance you find yourself having difficulty taking apart the harmonic balancer because it does not have remover bolts, then use a large break over bar with a pipe to hold in place on a cement ground to slowly work the hold down bolt loose. The same method will be used to tighten the bolt at the end of the process. Remember the old saying Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey and you should be able to take on this repair. With a broken belt, the engine will not run as designed. I had a vehicle that jumped about three teeth before I had to replace the timing belt. A broken belt leaves you no alternative but to replace it with a new belt. Make sure to give the engine a tune up once you are done and ensure that you have no back firing to avoid such an occurrence in the future. Good luck and happy motoring. Harold

Left front hub replacement 2WD.

2WD pickups don't have hubs. They have rotors with bearings. Once you have the brake assembly supported, remove nut from spindle. Be sure not to strip the threads on the spindle. Remove the front set of bearings and pull the rotor off. Remove the rear set of bearings. Be sure to pack greases into new bearings prior to installation. Insert new rear bearing into rotor and replace onto spindle. Insert new front bearing and washer and re-install nut. Tighten to recommended torque specs, grease fittings and replace brake assembly.

What will cause1 window will go down but the other 3 will not?

well this could be a couple of reasons there are some simple thing you can do to check and see what is going on. first, some times the power for several accessories are drawn from a single fused circuit that is a fast way to know if it is a fuse or not. If you have several accessories that will not work they are usually on the same fuse. also in the case of 1 window working and 3 others not working it would be important to know if they all stopped working at the same time or one at a time. Also if you check all your fuses it will save you some time, it should be your first step in diagnosis of any automotive electrical issue. if all your fuses are good then I would remove the door panel on one of the effected doors ( be careful to not rip the weather guard inside the door panel, it is usually a plastic cover held on by a thick tar like glue that can be pulled away carefully and then just pressed on without ruining the protective properties) after getting to where you have the door panel and weather guard removed. Have a helper operate the window switch ( all switches will need to be plugged in because several windows may have a shared ground). if while operating the switch you can hear or see the motor trying to operate then you can be pretty sure that the problem is either the motor or the window track. track issues are usually pretty easy to spot, you can usually see broken or bent components. in the case of bent components consider the cause before removing and replacing as there may be another issue and can be costly if not repaired before installing new parts. If after operating the switch you don't hear or see the window motor trying to operate then it is time to start checking voltage and ground on the system in which case take it to a certified mechanic or some one who can read a wiring diagram and properly diagnose the issue due to guessing or even educated guesses can be costly after several new not broken or malfunctioning parts get replaced. hope this helps you hope it was not too long winded and boring.

The rear clip for the driver side window broke and

I had a similar problem. Both of my clips broke this past winter when the window froze shut. I bought the clips and recommended adhesive but could never get the window to stay adhered to the clips for very long. I purchased a purchased a new, after-market window on Ebay for $65 dollars and put it in myself. Body shops I talked with will not deal with replacing clips because of the problem with adhesives not holding for more than a week or two. Find you a window that has the clips installed during production. It will save you a lot of headache.

Check engine light/gas cap will not stay tight.

Yes, the gas cap will cause the Check Engine Light to come on. Will set code P0441 if I remember correctly. It should be okay to drive it. If you would like to confirm the code, take the truck to an auto parts store like Autozone and have them hook up their scan tool and read the code. If its P0441 it will probably be something like EVAP or Evaporative system leak.

Its an easy enough fix while your there too, just pick up a new gas cap or you could pick up an OEM one from the dealership.
