2000 chevrolet silverado 4.3 litre engine multiple misfires especially when cold

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? If you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems. I have seen service bulletins with this system, problem with cold start up. After the first start-up, the vehicle may run fine the rest of the day. The problem was fuel poppets sticking. The fix was to clean the fuel poppets, the cleaning procedure I saw was a shop procedure. Generally, with misfire, check spark--fuel--compression.

Po300 code possible fixes?

HI there:Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly.A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.Symptoms may include:the engine may be harder to startthe engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitateother symptoms may also be presentA code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:Faulty spark plugs or wiresFaulty coil (pack)Faulty oxygen sensor(s)Faulty fuel injector(s)Burned exhaust valveFaulty catalytic converter(s)Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passagesFaulty camshaft position sensorDefective computerPossible Solutions: If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

What should i try next my truck quit on me and now we have replace the fuel pump and filter it run but rough so i changed out the plugs and now it will crank but wont stay running it is running and 40

You might want to remove the o2 sensor ahead of the catalytic converter and see if it will run. If it does you have a plugged catalytic converter or muffler. You can also try manually spraying gas into the throttle body and see if it stays running and if so you could have a bad fuel pressure regulator. You will also need to check the pickup wire in the dist to make sure you are getting fire or enough fire to the plugs. You can check for this by putting a tester in the spark plug wire and the other end on a spark plugs if you have a spark tester. Hope this helps.

My 2000 Chevy

My next check would be the ignition cables, coil or coil packs if you are sure of the spark plug condition. Pick a really dark corner or night, start the engine, open the hood and look for 'fireworks' around the ignition cables. On a GM vehicle I keep trying to forget, I had to replace all ignition wiring when it was less than three years old.

My 2000 chevy siverado will not start after we tooj it to the car wash but never spraued the engine ... whats the problem?

Lots of possibilities: Fuel pump or bad wiring to the fuel pump. CKP sensor or wiring to CKP sensor. Ignition module. Check for fuel and spark. These are basic no-start chevy truck checks.

Rough idle on 2000 chev silverado

Yep, check those. Also check all the vacuum hoses for leaks. after that I would clean the throttle body and mass air flow sensor(MAF). Use a tooth brush on the throttle and just spray down the MAF, brake clean works good on those.. After that do a tune up.
